I am looking to either upgrade my current computer or purchase a new one. My current computer specs are:
Intel Core i5-2450m Processor
6GB Memory
750GB Hard Drive
Integrated Intel HD Graphics
My goal with upgrading my current computer or purchasing a new one is to be able to run multiple payware add-ons without FSX freezing. Currently during some flights FSX will freeze and cause a fatal error.
Would it be less expensive to upgrade or purchase a new computer?
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

That is a laptop, correct? There isn't much you can do upgrade wise so I would recommend going with a new build. How much are you looking to spend? I build and ship PCs if you are interested.

Thiago,
I am not sure as to what uiautomationcore.dll is? Where exactly is it in my fsx folder.
Robbie,
My current computer is a laptop.

Yep, there isn't much you can upgrade in a laptop and the important things performance wise can't be. While the crashes are most likely related to software issues for any performance gains you would need to have a new PC built. Do you have a budget in mind?

I dont currently have a budget in mind. What are possible software issues? I just want to be able to fly a good payware plane with some great looking scenery. Is that related to software or performance issues?

If you're crashing it's likely due to software issues (bad drivers, poor scenery, etc) or hardware. It's not due to the fact that the computer is running at 100%.
Cheers!

So what can I do? If I am running addon scenery, REX, and a great payware aircraft.... FSX will freeze and close causing a message to come up saying "a fatal error has occurred". I don't know what I can do to fix this.

Google uiautomationcore.dll as a potential fix for the crashes, for performance increase you would need to consider having a new PC built.

Go to AVSIM forums and look up tweaks. There is a dedicated area for working the demons out.

Does it give you the option to see the details as to what the fatal error was? It seems you have a stout enough machine. your only downfall might be the integrated video card. video cards add a lot and I don't know your system but you can upgrade those in laptops. Wont be a GTI but it would be better.

Kenneth,
I am scared to tweak FSX myself. Is there a program that will do it for me?
Dane, Next time I will look and see if it gives me details on the "fatal error". What type of video card should upgrade too (my computer is a laptop)? What does a video card do for FSX?
Thanks,
Scott

Some good comments here already - but one of the things I would consider is taking things out of the equation. Use a different aircraft, fly to different airports, etc. to see if you can find a common element. Worst case, a full Windows reinstall before buying new hardware.
Cheers!

Thiago,
I am running windows 7 64-bit.
Also the only payware (scenery) I am using is GEX. No addon airports.
