My FSX started intermittently freezing with AC parked at gate and throughout flight, so I have been aborting flights for the last three weeks or so and FSX is just not flyable. Strangely enough, I notice it only when flying the DVA MD-88. I read in a previous post that others were having this problem as well and someone said to uncheck the ACARS Gauge Integration box, which I have done but didn't fix the problem. So I then disconnected ACARS and there was no more freezing throughout the entire flight. My version of ACARS is Version 3 Build 101. (All of these flights have been offline)

I am wondering if the server is having problems because I have just noticed this over the last 3 weeks or so. Anyone else experiencing this as well? Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks in advance

I would recommend turning off the auto save feature in ACARs. This seems to help the freezing.

If you want to test this, try typing .save - that will manually trigger the autosave logic and you can see if you can duplicate the issue.

One other thing I forgot to mention on the Build 102 announcement - the new ACARS 102 beta can detect different payware aircraft and adjust the autosave interval accordingly.

UPDATE........ after getting FSX running with the DVA MD-88 parked and the gate at KATL ( in pre-flight mode). I started Active Sky 2012, got it up and running and refreshed my AI a/c. I then brought ACARS up and connected fine. I was doing my pre-flight and all systems were go with no freezes, (I purposely was in the pre-flight mode for over 15 minutes to see if I could duplicate the freezing without ACARS engaged) FPS was at 25-30 and everything was great. Loaded my fuel tanks through ACARS with no problem and I was at the point to start flight.

As soon as I hit the start flight button I immediately got a "Transponder set to standby" mode in the ACARS message area and FSX froze up and after 7 minutes would not reset itself so I had to abort the pre-flight. I went into settings for ACARS and had ACARS gauge integration unchecked and automatic Transponder control box checked, Log automatic Flight Saving unchecked.

Luke, I was going to try the typing .save but I have no idea where it goes.
