Last night i woke up to find my pc in the windows startup recovery area i thought nothing of it and turned my pc off.The next morning when i went to turn on my pc it got to loading windows with the different colour dots and stuff it would then get a BSOD and restart it continued to do this all day.I decided to open it up and maybe see if any wires were loose and get rid of some dust this didn't work either.

I then tried to do a whole new restart of windows but when it got to loading the files i got an error message saying "An unexpected I/O issue has occurred"

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Off the top of my head it sounds like a disk problem. Can you boot into safe mode? If not try that by holding F8 while the computer is booting. Once in safe mode run chckdsk using the /f parameter.

Daniel, when you see the blue screen is there a stop code? Something like STOP 0x0000008E? Just the last 2 digits of the stop code are important. You're sure the harddisk cables haven't come loose? That's wishful thinking I know... frown

Bill,I'll have a look at the cables ASAP but i can't get a number from the blue screen it comes up too quick maybe 2 seconds max its there then its gone so its sadly almost impossible to see

Most of the time when they are that quick it is a HDD problem. Do you have another HDD laying around that you can try?

Is it win7? Try going into the bios settings and see if the bios sees the harddisk. Usually hit delete when it's starting to get into the bios. Sorry, don't want to sound condescending but don't know how much you know about computers...

Would an external HDD work? if not i highly doubt i have another one and yes Bill the Bios can see the SSD and the HDD

external will work, might be slower. What is your boot drive, the ssd or hdd? Problem is you'll have to reload everything ugh

i'm loading from the SSD, I actually don't mind installing everything again my windows on the SSD was very slow starting up anyway :D, will give the external a go if i get a chance and will also try the repair disk function. Whew that was a lot :P, Dan

hmm, you're not supposed to run chkdsk on a SSD anyway. Sounds like you might have had some corruption if it was running slow on the USB. If you're brave you might even reinstall to the SSD if the CD sees it and can install there. You have Win7?

Is it still booting from the harddisk? You might have to go into the bios and tell it the cd is the boot device

Yeah i have done that but it doesn't give me any option it tells me to press a button to boot from cd media

EDIT: I've made some progress i can easily install the 32 bit windows 7 so i believe its a 64 bit CD issue i'll try to find a way around it
