I'm trying to do a check ride for the 757 and I had to download and install the DVA 757. Now every time I start a flight using the 757, FSX crashes. I've checked the events logs and (Log Below) that is what I found. Looks like the panel file is causing the problem. I've reinstalled the DVA 757 3 times, twice using the Run As Administrator. No help. I've read on here that I could get a different panels to use but would that conflict with my required check ride? Please advise on what I should do.

Also, James, it might be that this 757 panel required the FSX default aircraft be the cessna 172 which is parked on the runway (36C) at KSEA with the engine running and the avionics active. This panel uses some of the condition of the default aircraft to assign the startup condition of the 757 panel. If you have changed the FSX default aircraft, I would recommend that you restore it to the Cessna 172 that was used originally. Hope this helps.

@Jim I don't recall my FSX had the Cessna set as any default aircraft. I remember it was one of those AirCreation planes. Should I try and set it to a Cessna any way?

Yes, give that a try. Jim is right, the default Cessna loads up and configures a bunch of the default panel "states" that a lot of addon panels use.

I am not rated for this AC but was trying it out and had the same problem, I fixed it by making the default Panel state when starting a flight the 2D cockpit. It seems to work fine for me now.

I'm getting this error now as well with the Fleet 757. I can load the fleet 757 and fly it all day until I've saved a flight and then re-loaded it. If the save was made with the 2D cockpit displayed, then a subsequent load crashes FSX immediately. If the save was made from an outside view, FSX loads and runs normally UNTIL you switch to the 2D cockpit view - whereupon FSX will immediately crash. This "znewpfd" gauge is consistently the culprit.

Fleet aircraft gauge = FSX crash = Fleet aircraft gauge is defective and needs to be replaced.

This exact thing happened to me except when I select the fleet 777 or 747-400 in FSX, for the 777, it crashes, and for the 747-400, it doesn't load. How do I fix this? I run Windows 8.1 with FSX Deluxe SP2.

While reading the thread referenced in Bill Gardiner's post above, I came across a weird comment:
Are you trying to load a saved flight? The panel will crash FS9 if the 4 windows are not visible before saving a flight. The 4 windows are the top 4 icons on the panel. (overhead, fmc, throttle and sim failure).Try to switch to other aircrafts first and switch it back. Before saving a flight make sure those 4 windows are visible first.
I've noticed that when you start a Fleet 757 flight that those four displays are blocking the outside view. If this requirement is true, then I'm surprised that DVA would choose such a user-unfriendly cockpit for their fleet installer. Saving flights while in the air are all but impossible because of this requirement to completely clutter your view with unnecessary panels. EPIC FAIL DVA.

Do you have a better freeware panel in terms of accurately modeling a 757 and 767 cockpit?
FWIW if you use the ACARS flight save functionality it will automatically open the necessary sub-panels for you.
Cheers!

Not freeware. I'm currently trying to see if I can get the NPS payware panels to work with the fleet aircraft. I guess with freeware you get what you pay for. This wouldn't have been such a big deal if I had been able to use my CS 757 for the flight academy, but I'm told our ACARS doesn't work correctly with the CS 757.

Lawrence,
Looking at your profile and what aircraft you are rated to fly, you are not even rated for the 757, so use for the Flight Academy would be a none starter as your flight would be rejected for unrated Airframe. Get yourself rated in the type before using the model for any Flight Academy stuff.

My mistake. I said "flight academy" when this checkride in the 752 is for the 757 First Officer rating. I've got a VFR Pilot flight academy checkride waiting in the wings for when I complete (or fail) the 757 FO checkride. I was excpecting to do that one in the 738.

Lawrence,
I am sure you will do very well in the up and coming Checkride. Have faith in your abilities and you'll be golden. Look forward to seeing the post in the Forum announcing you've passed.

It's not my abilities I'm really worried about (though they're not that much to brag about, either). It's the hardware and software issues I've been experiencing that have the overwhelming majority of my concerns right now. This 757 checkride clocks in at right around 2 hours in length. Getting my computer to complete a 2 hour flight without crashing borders on the "highly improbable" category.

Well I guess I didn't need another rating anyway. Is it normal for a 752 to treat a 10 knot quartering headwind like a small hurricane? I never would have thought a 5 knot crosswind component would blow a commercial airliner on short final across a taxiway and almost to 16R.
