The problems are security/permissions related with Vista, Windows 7, and I'm sure Windows 8 when FSX is installed in the default location of Program Files (x86 I believe was). It's not that FSX won't run here, it will, but the overall experience is better if you install it somewhere else as you won't be plagued with as many security related nuisances that are associated with the locked down Program Files directory. I installed in a folder named FSX off the root of my D: drive. You could do the same if you only have a C: drive as well. Personally I'd take this opportunity next time you install which is what I did.

Thanks Jason! I am aware of the security plagues when installing in the default directory, which is why I read that in the first place I believe. It seems logical to me that if it is installed in it's own directory it wouldn't task the CPU "as much" therefore getting a little better performance. I built a pretty good system so that isn't much of an issue for me, but always trying to make it run just that much better...LOL I have a 3770K, GTX680, 8 gbs RAM and 2 SSD's.
