for me ive found FSX to run very well. I guess im lucky.
if your PC can handle it (in particular do you have atleast 4GB of RAM). and its installed and ran properly (actually the sim can install and run fine normally) but a lot of times add-ons can conflict. Ive seen add-ons cause more trouble than the sim itself, a lot of times more trouble than they are worth (im looking at you FSinn).
I feel the same as you, but not about the sim. for me its VATSIM that's doing it. I just installed FSinn for the 10th time, and yet agine its causing more problems than its worth. I would use squawk box. but its a more effective paper weight than a connection client. really I don't know why I put up with it. once I get my new PC built im installing FSX and P3d on it. and nothing but quality software will touch that HDD. And ive heard all the arguments. "do this and FSinn works great" right click that, alter this file, run in windowed mode, take 2 shots, stand on one finger, prey to all mighty of every religion and it will work. KISS MY you know the next word. why should I or anyone else have to jump throue 50 flaming hoops and over the moon just to get some stupide pice of crap software working. to fly online? the amount of crap I go throue just to install and start the client by the time im ready I don't want to fly anymore. then add to the fact it doesn't work right when its running.
long story short im thinking of burning the FSinn installers on a disk and taking them to the shooting range. im shure FSinn was once a great collection of files. now its wet dog vomit that I wish my AV software would remove for me.
Say what you want about IVAO. at least they have thire "insert feces synonym here" together

I fully agree with you and yet looking for a new rig to test P3D V2. Whenever I want something stable go to PS3, other than that, it's a matter of aligning stars when you throw add-ons from different providers, created for a basic hardware set and expect to work well. If you use FSX for what it was intended, you'll love the result.
But, using it to create a parallel universe with weather, textures, airports, gates, lights, etc. is a long shot in my book.
Again, I feel for you and keep my hammer close to my rig because subtle motivation may work!
