Has anyone experienced any troubles at all getting flightsim.com scenery downloads to unzip with a windows 8 computer? I saved the scenery files from my old win xp system and installed the files from the disc, but when i try to acess the files nothing happens.

Have you tried running them backwards compatible, as you took these off an xp system?

Pull up the properties for the file by right clicking. Then look over the compatibility, etc. As Mark said it may need to be changed. Sometimes I also see a place to UNBLOCK under the General or Security Tab. If you do check to UNBLOCK. And try checking the Run As Administrator.
