OK For the thrid time in a row I can't book in Cross The Pond! I checked VATSIM almost every day (I had my calendar marked and marked it real early) I go today and finally Cross The Pond shows up when I scroll down(wasn't ther yesterday). I was estacic and went in to sign up to find their aren't any slots left. EVERY SINGLE FLIGHT IS ALREADY FILLED. Somehoe the bookings opened 4 days ago but how was I suppose to know that. There MUST be a better way of letting us know when it's time to sign up. mad

The opening of bookings was announced here in the cooler a few days ago. That's how I became aware and reserved my booking.

Not to worry. You can still fly the event. You just don't have a booking meaning your departure may be somewhat delayed.

If it makes you feel any better, in my 3 years at DVA, this is the first CTP event I'm able to participate in without a scheduling conflict.

Brian, I'm almost certain, and I could be wrong, but I think read somewhere that VATUK has a Cross The Pond practice event the week before. This might actually turn out to be better than the actual event because the delays will be minimal if any at all. In addition, Shanwick Oceanic and Gander have been staffed the past two weekends for a good portion of the day so definitely check that option out this weekend.

I received a slot for last years event and was very excited to participate in what would have been my first Cross the Pond event. Unfortunately ATC was extremely busy and I sat at the gate for 1:45 waiting for a release from ATC specifically Shankwick. I decided it was not worth the wait and logged off. I was willing to give up 7-8 hours of my Saturday, not 10+.

Brian, keep checking on the sign up page. People drop flights, especially near the event. Be diligent though, you won't be the only one trying to get a last minute slot!

Well, all those times I have participated in CTP I have never booked a slot. Normally I have departed shortly before the event have started to avoid getting fustrated over the lacking radio discipline. But also because I might only fly in or out of one of the attending airports.

If you're an FSInn user, you might want to double check and make sure AB-CD works correctly. I had problems with that SELCAL with FSInn. I configured it using the pulldown boxes then the next time I go back into FSInn setup half the SELCAL code is missing. So I chose to avoid that one.

You can change your SELCAL code for CTP by declining your booking and then rebooking with the new SELCAL. Be fast for obvious reasons.

Personally I wouldn't bother with it. My guess is they won't look at the booking code, they will look at the code you list in comments on your flight plan.
