I am looking at a new video card, either the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 645 with 1GB GDDR5 or the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 760 Ti with 2GB GDDR5. Is the NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 760 Ti with 2GB GDDR5 worth the extra money for FSX? All I do with this computer is FSX, no other gaming. Thanks!

Both of those cards are OEM so we don't have any benchmarks for them, but based spec sheet the 760 Ti seems to be very slightly faster than a 760; my best guess would put it on par with a 670.
That said I would strongly discourage you from buying a prebuilt PC. They are overpriced, tend to use low quality parts, and can't be optimized for FSX as well as a custom build could. If you aren't comfortable building one yourself I build and ship PCs; you can shoot me an email if you are interested.

I bought the Gigabyte 760GTX 4 gig card and could not be happier. This thing is a beast! I am like you not much gamer but wanted something that I could load up on FSX and P3D. This card is really quiet, has 3 fans, and a hell of a heat sink which allows it to run really cool. I "Would not buy it= IF" your case is small. Check out the dimensions of the card and then see if your case if able.

I just threw down a wad of cash today on a new GPU and power supply. I bought the EVGA GTX750TI and a new Thermalake 600 W power supply. I did some research on the card which is a 2 GB 156bit OC card with dual fans and seen that it is a high performer. This is going in my system I have had for a while... An ASUS i7 2400K, 16GB, 2 1TB sata drives and for added umph added 2 750GB drives to it. Dedicating one of the smaller drives to just my download files and documents. Use a portion of another smaller drive as the swap file and temp files. Just trying to free up some resources for FSX. Should see a big gain over frame rate with the new card over my old one. Before I had a GT530 installed. Had ok frame rate with it but this was dog slow

With FSX, your CPU is probably going to have more impact than the graphics card unless you're displaying at nosebleed resolutions. The 32-bit limitation renders a lot of gaming's current technology hobbled.

my only problem with nvidia is that they dont support 4 true displays, only 3 +1 accessory display. where ATI can support up to 6 true displays to make one display,
I run a ATI7970 that supports 6 i am using it for 4 outputs in my simpit. i am running 5870 x 1080 for my top 3 landscape displays all 23" monitors. my lower 4th monitor runs @ 1920x1080p.
i run fs9 with rex ase, and all payware airports. and i run about 30 fps ground and 50 fps sky.
i run a amd 955t black overclock to 4.5ghz 16gb ddr3 ram, 7970 card, 550w power spply and soundblaster Z sound card.

With my old card I was getting good frame rate at 20 to 22 fps. My big thing is with xplane I was getting on stock settings somewhere around high side of 15fps and a custom airport 3 to 8 fps. Being the 500 series card is a intro card vs the 700 series card is a performer, I should get better results

According to ATI, the HD 7900 series needs additional hardware to display on anything more than two monitors. My GTX 770? Four displays (three linked) without any additional hardware. Not QUITE getting 30 fps on my setup. The monitors are set up thusly:
With the 3-wide in 5960 x 1080 and the one on top at 1920 x 1080.

my ati supports 6 displays. your only 4. mine has 2 dvi 1 hdmi and 2 mini diaply ports, you do need 2 mini display port adaptors to say HDMI or DVI or you could get a MST hub that takes one mini display into 2 separate displays. making 6 to make one solid display without one being a accessory monitor.
see below
the monitor on the bottom right is my tablet connected via wifi .

You seem to be taking exception to the "accessory monitor" but it's just the name nVidia uses to differentiate it from the Surround monitors. The monitor acts like any other monitor in a multi-display setup. I'm not really seeing the difference between my monitor 2 and yours. Mine has the ACARS, vPilot, Navigraph Charts (when necessary) and web sites. I can put any undocked display item from FSX that I want up there. Yours has your undocked 2D instrument panel. Potayto/Potahto.

ill say i like NVIDIA cards better but i got plenty of experience with eyefinity and the fact i know i can upgrade to another 2 displays for my extended glass cockpit coming soon
you and i can both agree that having more than 1 or 2 displays is so great once we go we can not come back! I had the comcast guy come over for the new router setup and he just stared at my simpit and asked where the other 2 pcs were.
i showed him my ONE pc and he couldnt believe it.
larry try it. try an undocked display panel. i may taint you and you wouldnt want to every go back....

I just looked. I can get a 16-monitor setup, if I want to switch from GeForce to Quadro and spend about another $2500.
Flight Sims aside, load up Google Earth and watch the globe fill your vision. It's almost like having your own personal Omnimax theater.
