Right now i have the Radeon HD 6800 and it does not really feel like it can fully handle FSX. Mid flights i have noticed i get out of memory and crashes a lot. So i been looking around at other cards http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121779 . I am wanting to get the PMDG addon as well as a few others. Do you guys think this would meet up to the standards. Or do you guys know of a better card around the same price or cheaper?

That's a great if not one of the best cards you can get for FSX but it would be a waste if the rest of your system can't keep up with it. What are the rest of your specs?

Right now i have a AMD FX 8150 with 16GB ram. Harddrive is a typical 2TB 7200rpm. Down the road i am looking to get a SSD for primary.

The card will meet the memory requirements for PMDG but even with the most detailed PMDG addon (maybe the 777) you don't need 3GB of video memory.

A 780 is complete overkill for FSX. A 760 is more than sufficient for FSX and it's typically what I recommend for flight simmers.
That said your OOM errors and crashes are most likely not related to your GPU. FSX can only use up to 4GB of RAM no matter how much is in your system, so the OOM errors come when FSX attempts to use more than 4GB. It's a software problem and you should be able to find some info on how to fix it on the internet.

Alright. The reason for this card is i hate upgrading my cards for a few years at least so i usually just top off at the best then run with it since i do a lot of other games besides FSX. I also stream right now on twitch so having the extra GPU power helps with my processing.

That makes more sense. In that case I would probably recommend the 770; it's still more than enough for gaming at 1920x1080 and can push 1440p max settings on most games. I tend to recommend EVGA for the manufactuer; I'll admit I'm pretty biased but they have the best support around and I've never had a bad experience with them. It's also worth noting that you will have access to ShadowPlay which will make streaming and recording have nearly zero impact on your performance since it utilizes a built in h.264 encoder on the GPU.
If you still wanted to spend some extra money, your FSX experience could be greatly improved by an Intel CPU. Their superior single threaded performance is crucial for FSX.

Yeah right now money is a slight issue. This card is gonna allow me to stay afloat till i work up some more spare monies to spend anything major. I have for a while now been wanting to try Intel i hear its gotten pretty good and the overal support for games in the Intel looks good.
The only real thing i would need is a new mobo and processor but those two alone can run you well depending what i go for. But then again i been AMD my whole life so i do not know a whole lot a bout Intel.. x.x

I just installed an EVGA 760 and it is leaps and bounds above the Radeon/AMD I had. Although the FPS isn't super high, the video remains smooth and stutter free which is more than I can say for the former.

Neat Norm. I actually fixed i think most of my problems with updating the drivers i found out that the version i had was not only the "latest" but it was the most corrupt for FSX and it was getting reported more and more that that version was messing the game up so i actually found a beta version and upgraded to that and it seems to work fine now.
I am still prolly going to get the card just to keep up with the other games that i play and my streaming. So my computer overall runs better on processing.
