Will PMDG 737 NGX run with Windows 8.1? I recently purchased a desktop with Windows 8.1 installed and have all the recommended settings from the PMDG website. If anyone is able to relate their positive/negative experiences, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I run 8.1 one with no issues - however, UAC is disabled to make sure I don't have issues with read/write and overall rights to folders.
Level-D 767 does not work on 8.1 for me though..

I have the PMDG 737 and Win 8.1 and the only problem I had early on was resolved when I updated the drivers for my nVidia GTX 770. I installed FSX into it's own folder off the root, so a lot of those UAC issues were avoided.

I downloaded PMDG 747 NGX, and the program is running but has not started after a 15 minute wait. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Sorry, not familiar with PMDG's JumboJet. Do they really have an NGX version of the 747?
If you meant the 737 NGX, I know of a couple of things you have to be aware of when starting. PMDG recommends you do NOT make the PMDG plane your default aircraft. Keep the ultralight or some other aircraft as the default and load the PMDG plane after FSX finishes loading. The other thing is when you start, there will be about a 20-30 second wait while the PMDG systems are initialized. You're not supposed to push any buttons or controls during that initialization (though I always set the parking brake).

Sorry, I meant to say the 737 NGX. I reloaded the program again, and ran FSX as an administrator. I get the blue screen, but is has been displaying for 10 minutes now, and will not advance. Has anyone ever ran into a similar problem, or knows of a sulotion?

Sorry, I haven't run into that particular problem. The only time I've had FSX get stuck on initial load was after I installed a Level D 767 (Level D doesn't support running their aircraft on Win 8.1). I had to uninstall the Level D to get FSX working again. Does FSX work if you uninstall your 737NGX?
Here's the things I've done with FSX that were non-standard because I'm using Win 8.1 x64:
FSX is installed in a root directory (C:\FSX) rather than the default (under C:\Program Files x86). This is to avoid a lot of issues with User Access Control.
The FSX.exe file is set to Run As Administator in the compatibility settings (again, to avoid issues with UAC.)
I've installed the 4GB patch to FSX.exe that allows it to use more virtual memory seeing as I'm running a 64-bit system. http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php FSX is only a 32-bit program and tries to do both regular memory and virtual memory in a limited 4GB of addressable space. This typically resulted in FSX being limited to 2GB and the virtual memory getting the remaining 2GB. This patch gives FSX a little more room to breathe, though I'm still leaving over half my RAM untouched due to the addressing constraints of a 32-bit program.
