Hi Liam,
In short: stay away from AMD. I've worked with several models and Intel is way ahead of them, on both performance and power consumption. Also, don't take the 4770K, take the 4670K instead. FS can't profit from hyperthreading, saves you a few bucks. Invest it in a separate HDD for FS. Also, I'd consider a Nvidia GPU instead of ATI.
Good luck!

There is no single answer. FSX doesn't take advantage of hyperthreading but P3D does. And many are saying the P3D is the future of flight simming. And even if you don't consider hyperthreading, Intel is much better at single core, i.e. FSX, computing than AMD. While someone might get adequate performance from a particular configuration you should look at what the overwhelming majority are experiencing. Avsim has some forums dedicated to video and cpu/motherboard discussions.

Guys, if you buy a AMD process, go with a ATI Graphics Card. Buy Intel processor, go with Nvidia graphics card. AMD makes the GPU for ATI (same company). I would go with the 4770K if you play any other games.

OK first off, your video should be on its own card. A motherboard that has an intergrated graphics is good for trouble shooting and as a backup, but that is all they are good for. I have to agree with the collective, Intel CPU. Min of 8 but 16 gigs of ram better. You want 2 hard drives 3 if your going to have FSX and P3D. Have a minimum of 640 gig for c: then D adn E can be 640 gig and above for each drive. I have tried ASUS, INTEL, Gigabyte, and other mobo's. I have had the higher priced ones fail just as fast as the cheaper ones. My way of looking is to go to NEWEGG and start looking their. First go with your budget then with the ones you picked, switch to ratings and actually review them. If you see a trend of mostly good to great, you may have oyur board. If you see blah or bland, that is not your board. BE wary of 5 star ratings with very little comment and not a registered customer, those are planted reviews.
The one thing I noted was you did not mention a power supply and if you were going to buidl it yourself or if you were going to purchase a built system. Either case, make sure the power supply is 800 watts or more. Reason being, if you want to add on later you will have the ability. Also the weaker the power supply the less xtra rails they have to proved a means of power.
Do not go with a stock CPU cooler, they just barely meet the specs and you darn sure cant tweek them with stock. I recommend a hydra 80 or better, a self contained unit (no adding water).
I recommend you build your own. They are quite easy and there is a ton of YouTube vids to help you out. Good luck!
