Just wondering what folks are using the 2nd monitor for in a dual monitor configuration. I'm debating over purchasing a 2nd monitor but I'd like to have an idea of how to best use it. Sure wish I could afford some of these 4 and 5 monitor setups I've seen.

After having my system setup with a second monitor I could not imagine flying with out a second monitor. The second monitor reduces your work load greatly. As far as a 2nd monitor, here is what i wound up doing this year. I have a 39 in LCD TV Samsung 39" Class 1080p LED HDTV. I use this as my main monitor and then I have a 22in Samsung monitor as my secondary. I run the sim in Windowed Mode and that allows me to monitor other side programs running to include having my landing approach plates right there.

Thanks for the input guys. Where can I go to learn how to put items on the 2nd monitor, especially ones that won't pause the sim when I access them?

go to your settings in fs9 or fsx . and unclick pause on task switch. that will fs will stay running, Run FS9 or FSX in windowed mode as mentioned above, drag your instrument panel to the bottom one resize it to your liking, and click save flight >> default , so everytime you load fs it will put your displays how you had them.
This is my setup, cs 757-200
i recently just added my kindle fire for my electronic flight bag for SID STAR PLATES here
will never go back!

Sean, I have a really big favor to ask...would you mind taking the picture with your layout and noting on it what pieces of gear you purchased? I really like some of the gear you have but I don't have a clue as to what it is or who makes it.
BTW, thanks everyone for your input on this. I haven't purchased anything yet, but it's getting close. Waiting for a good sale at Newegg.

Those are some really nice cockpits. Do you have a problem with temperature in the summer months? I notice it just using a 2 monitor set up. I run 2 small fans to help dissipate.

Thank you and no problems of heat, some of the monitors are LED. so heat output isnt a problem, keep in mind i run one PC and that has a 955t black edition 4.5 ghz amd. witha noctua NHd14 cooler and a 7970 radeon card with 4 outputs. the internal case temp is 88 F and my cpu doesnt go above 110f loaded. all air cooled. so that doesnt contribute to heat.

Eric for the throttles I have done a complete diy
http://www.deltava.org/thread.do?id=0x1bec5
For the fms. http://www.deltava.org/thread.do?id=0x1bed4
The partial mcp is just the saitek switch panel
The yoke is from ch products and the clipboard is just heavy card stock screwed on.
I also have a complete list of stuff here http://www.deltava.org/thread.do?id=0x1ce56
Hope this helps btw I created the fuel cut off switches by hand and the spar valve illuminators by hand as well with leds.
I made the pedestal with wood painted and made adjustments

I have a question I am using 4 monitors in Eyefinity my 3 main monitors display the cockpit. my 4th monitor blacks out and is useless anyone know how to fix that? Also I can not use any of the fleet aircraft since I have to use the VC because the main display does not work correctly because of the 3 monitors, is there a way to get VC in say the EMB120?
thanks
