I installed REX Essential Plus Overdriive on my computer.. now I have odd looking contrails. I tried to reset the textures through REX.. it's supposed to keep a copy of the default FSX files in the event that you want to delete the REX textures. Well, it didn't work. Is there anyone who can email default FSX textures to me? I really don't want to reinstall FSX. If anyone has any other ideas I would like to hear them. It's not a major deal as I try to spend most of my flights looking out from the inside ( there are some things I try to keep somewhat realistic smile

I wish I knew. Hopefully someone here knows. Probably something to do with contrails?? I've created a new topic on it in the REX forum. Hopefully I can get an answer there as well.

Maybe try renaming the two files to just fx_contrail and fx_contrail2. Take out the part that says "_rex"??

I found the corrupt contrail files. They were the fx_contrail files. I removed them completely and the problem was gone.. but obviously so were the contrails. Wingtip vortices were visible also.. at FL300 so I tried to remove them but it had no affect. I tried a last ditch effort to use the installation CDs to try and repair corrupt files.. but now FSX will not run at all. So, I'm now forced to do what I tried to avoid. Uninstall and a clean install. I guess it's no big deal. I didn't have a lot of software for it, at least compared to FS9.

It really is just a small glitch, never worth reinstalling or repairing by disk.
Opening the fx_contrail.fx file with notepad, you can check which texture it is using.

Probably too late now but I sent you the texture files again with the fx_contrail.fx files attached.
Try and do a system restore to sometime yesterday and if it works, replace the files with the ones I sent you.

Well I spent the afternoon working on FSX. Since it stopped working I did a complete reinstall.. including my payware.. with REX and now everything works ok. I wont repair by disk again unless I plan on reinstalling the whole thing!
