Windows 8.1 is known to have a problem with the joystick disconnecting from FSX and this finally happened to me the other day, luckily not until I was already on the ground at LAX. Anyone know how to solve this problem so it wont happen again?

Hi Casey

You can try to disable the option that allows the computer to turn off the USB device to conserve power (computer management/devices/properties/power management).

If that does not work the only solution is to use FSUIPC to assign and control axes and / or joystick buttons. This (FSUIPC) is how I run, Saitek X52 + pedals, no issues since windows 8 RC.

Hope this helps

Florin

That's the only thing that worked for me (and a lot of other folks). Good luck, keep us posted on the progress.

I have found FSUIPC is the only solution that is guaranteed to work every time.
