Hello Everyone;
In this material, I`m going to show you my settings that could help you to get a better Simulator for FSX (SP2 a must) in DX10. Remembering that every system is different from each other and no guarantee it my work for you. I`ll not be responsible for any damage to you system if that would occurs. You might need a little knowledge on hardware`s and tweaking.
First;
My Specs: (Click on the link for the hardware’s)
http://pcpartpicker.com/user/bthiago/saved/Dxbp99
Windows 7 64 bits
I did overclocked my intel7 to 4.4ghz stable. Knowing that I could go at least 4.6ghz.
Second: (only if you want to Overclock your system) Following this master (with is underwear ?) on You Tube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=668ATnnBOZU&index=8&list=WL
Third:
After getting your system stable, making sure you run for 2-3 days, and use high demand software`s. Just to verify you don`t get Blue Screen and other crashes.
Forth:
Before you run the CD of FSX or download from Steam. I would consider you turn down the User Account Control Settings by going to:
Control Panel\System and Security
Under the “Action Center”, click on “Change User Account Control Settings”
than slide the bar to (Never Notify) This will be less hassle when open any program.
Fifth:
Now run your FSX (Make sure you Run As Administrator all the time). After installing, run it for the first time. Put in windowed mode. I could never run Full Screen. Make sure you load the in a very friendly FPS (FRAMES PER SECOND) airport and load the default Cessna C172 Skyhawk. Put the aircraft in Cold and Dark (Battery, lights, Alternator and Ignition to off) (leave Master switch ON and Full Mixture if you don`t have Saitek instrument flights) and save it, following the save title to Primary Flight; and make sure you check (MAKE THIS THE DEFAULT FLIGHT). Than close. So now you have the FSX.CFG. But before getting into flight, download some modules:
FSUIPC4 4.936 = http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html (Its free or you can buy it) and install it.
UiAutomationcore.dll = http://www.search-dll.com/dll-files/download/uiautomationcore.dll.html (Very important to into your drive under the Microsoft Flight Simulator X folder = D:\Microsoft Flight Simulator X (Just drop inside).
Now run FSX and under the settings, me the certain adjust for your monitor view (if you are running 1920 x 1080 x 32) something like that and check (Preview DX10). Close and restart the FSX. You might to have crashes for the beginning or you might not. Even thou I had the UiAutomationcore.dll inside the FSX folder, I still had some crashes. All of sudden, it stops and I was doing long flights with it without a crash.
Sixth:
If you want to get straight in with your tweaking, please feel free, by following another master for FSX:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSrObxJaJD8&index=9&list=WL (This tweak that I used). That includes the DX10Fixer from Steve and here is his website: http://stevesfsxanalysis.wordpress.com/2013/06/21/dx10-scenery-fixer/
Or If you want; I have a PDF for DX10 tweak that makes you understand the tweak process: (Took from ORBX people)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/79395559/DX10_HowTo.pdf
Follow each step from it and you will get your amazing FSX in DX10.
If you want to know the add-ons that I have and continue to have, here they are:
First and the most important: FTX Global with Vector, Continued with some of their amazing sceneries.
REX4 Texture Direct (Make you run and install the texture on time only), ASN, Airports from: Aerosoft, FlyTampa, FSDreamTeam KJFK v2, LatinVFR, TropicalSim, BluePrint simulation and many others, Aircrafts: PMDG, Aerosoft, Captain Sim, A2A and others.
Very important;
If you have the Airbus X Extended with RAASPRO running, make sure your download this file: MakeRunways 4.675 = http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html (make your run that file, every time you add an airports into your FSX, that make the awareness accurate with runways and taxiways.
Also, if you have FTX Vector, run this program (FTX Vector Configurator) every time you add an Scenery into your FSX, that way your sceneries don`t get mess-up with elevations with FTX Global.
I know that I`m missing something, but I think if you know how to tweak FSX, you will be fine.
OBS: One thing that I want to mention, is every time you fire-up you FSX with tweaked FSX.CFG it gets better and better. Be aware also that everytime you install anything on your FSX, you must double check your FSX.CFG for any changes.
Hope you guys could get something of this. I`ll be probably doing a stream for the Vatsim CTP event. Let see!!!
Good Luck and See you guys in the Air with your FSX in DX10 mode.

Norm;
If you want, you may try the ones that are on AVSIM: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?CatID=fsxmisc&DLID=173811
This one too: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?SearchTerm=shader_release_v3.2.3.zip&CatID=root&Go=Search
Try those.

I had it set up about a month ago but got dis-configured. I just re-installed DX10 Fixer yesterday and re-programmed it to the settings I was provided based on my system. Did a test flight and it was working. It's a bit laggy so I might have to do some more flying to see if it corrects itself if not i'll have to go back to DX9.

Thanks for taking the time to post this Thiago. There are some good tips here. What do you think of the hi res monitor compared to 1920? I'm thinking of going that was and am wondering how much of an improvement it is. You have quite the system!

Thanks Bill;
About the res monitor; it is a big deal...Unfortunate, I didn`t bought with a G-SYN (as they had just come out). But besides that, I paid a good price with 1 dead pixel. At the time, cost me about USD389.00 shipped. I really recommend or wait for the 4Ks to drop on prices.
For an example, the Intel i7 3770K, I found on Micro Center for USD250.00 in the store. All my components was at a bargain prices. I never pay full prices. I can said that I spent about USD1500.00 all or less.
Thanks again.

I have a raid going. That's why. I still have lots of space to add 2 more video cards and upgrade the ram to 32 GB. I want to have this computer being able to run a 3 monitor set up for FSX.
Here's a dumb question, since I have an i5, can that be upgraded to an i7 or do I need a new mother board to do that? Thanks.

So, Yes you can buy a Intel i7 with this info: 4th-Gen Intel Core i7 / i5/ i3 (LGA1150)
Must be LGA1150 or it won`t fit on your motherboard.

And I can just pull the i5 from it? I though it was stuck forever because of the jelly and all that stuff required to connect them.

Jelly? You mean the silver compund for heat? You should be able to pull the water cooler/cpu fan off and removed just the CPU and add the new one. I just did mine from an I5 4770K to an I7 4790.

Good to know. I though they were stuck together until death pulled them apart, like marriage. Alright, when I go do my upgrade i'll hire Thiago.

Sergio, the substance is called thermal paste that transfers heat from your CPU to the cooling fan or water cooler. When changing out your cpu, you need to clean off the old paste from your cooling fan or water cooler. I used alcohol and a cotton ball to clean off the paste. I bought a tube of thermal paste at Radio Shack (arctic paste?) when I replaced my cooling fan. Spread the paste thin (very thin) with the edge of a plastic credit card to get a thin uniform layer of paste on your cpu. Then you can mount your cooling fan or water cooler and the system should be ready to go. Have fun with your upgrade!

Ok, I found an interesting config for NVidia inspector tweak from REX. For those who wants to use SweetFX & NVidia Inspector all together on DX10:
http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/30120-correctly-configured-sweetfx-aa-inspector-in-game-for-fsx-dx9dx10-p3d2-on-windows-781/
http://simtweak.com/
I think I`ll be giving a try also. REX scenes looks amazing.
Let me know your results.

Joe;
Try these thread that has been posted:
http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/30120-correctly-configured-sweetfx-aa-inspector-in-game-for-fsx-dx9dx10-p3d2-on-windows-781/

I`ll be trying to see that. But I can`t see the sweetFX on DX10. I`ll try to look into the thread at AVSIM.

I have something called Shade that adds a better shadow effect into FSX making everything look a lot more realistic. Apart from that I use DX10, a lot of anti-aliasing and good paywares like Texture Direct and ASN. At the end of the day they are graphics. Although they might come close to looking real, it's still a 2005 game running on steroids.

I have the Shade software too. I don`t see any differences while using it. I think I`ll try the sweetFX, but I have to find the DX10.dll for it.

Yeah I know, I have DX10 running and also ASN/REX4....but before I enabled DX10 it looked more realistic and not like a painting as much. Where can I get the Shade software?

Guys... I tried on my other PC with lower specs the sweetFX on "DX9", by following this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozn9NtRFLZc&index=1&list=FLLyeHDtvOMKysRzzBwoI_pA
Whatta great little software. It changed my whole FSX to a better looking. I will going to give it a try on DX10, but not now.
Let me know your results if you pretend to use it for DX9 by posting images.

Guys and Girls;
Just for the heads-up... New version of the DX10SceneryFixer Version 2.5 arrived. Installing when I get home. Hopping for some other fixes:
New features in V2.5
If you haven't seen Steve's blog he have uncovered a DX10 fsx.cfg setting:
[Display]
ForceVCShadowMap=1
This turns on VC Shadows for all aircraft regardless of the flag setting in the VC model. Surprisingly this also turns on VC shadows for legacy aircraft as well. The majority of changes in 2.5 relate to this, enabling HD shadows, shadow boost etc for these legacy aircraft.
There are a few other tweaks and bugfixes as well.
IMPORTANT! If you purchased before 27th September 2013 and and still have the original version installed - then please refer to the email you received on this date and follow the instructions there before upgrading.
This is a very good news for me using DX10 and I`m so satisfied with my progress. Getting amazing FPS and the imagine that I get doesn`t make me want to switch to P3D
Skies the limit.

Been running on DX10 for a week now (but I stumbled upon this post just now).
I've read the SteveFX's manual on fixer and stuff and go everything working with tweaks to my taste.
What confuses me is this UIautomationcore thing: I had to get rid of it not to get menu crashes in DX9 mode. (I have a back up of course).
So the question is: Why do I have to put in FSX folder? I don't have it there and everything is nice and smooth.
I've seen one youtuber recommending it too, but without any explanation, other than that, no one including SteveFX has mentioned anything about it.
Could you explain the necessity of this dll in FSX root, please?

Without being incredibly technical, the UiAutomationcore.dll helps FSX read your system as a 32bit OS. It's especially required if your running Win7 in 64bit. Be advised though, some people have "lucked out" and had FSX run without having it in their FSX root. Mileage may vary, as with any tweak or mod.

Also I have found that 8x SGSS 8x Samples 16x Anisotropic Filtering Setting with the 8x setting in Fixer works the best for me (even though, someone mentioned that SGSS and AFS should be the same or the universe would be in danger).
PC specs are: Core i7 4930K, m/b UD-79X(3 I think), geforce 780GTX, 32GB 2333Mhz RAM, Intel 512GB SSD and HDD.

If your FSX (Or any program) is crashing, hanging or any other type of error, a program I like to use is called AppCrashView - located here http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/app_crash_view.html Windows has an internal application similar to this but the 3d party app is much more thorough.
If the UiAutomationcore.dll is the reason for an FSX hang, AppCrashView will post a log looking similar to this -
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: fsx.exe
Application Version: 10.0.61472.0
Application Timestamp: 475e17d3
Fault Module Name: uiautomationcore.dll
Fault Module Version: 7.0.0.0
Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5bdb1d
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 0000e52a
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
I've used the UiAutomationcore.dll as an example, but it will detect any module causing a program to crash.
-EDIT- The grammar and spelling in my post is terrible, forgive me, I'm typing on my phone!

Nice to know I'll try that out. I've had Aerosoft A319 crash on me, but that's mostly the add-on issue which is being localized right now on A-soft forums.
I've tried a few things myself, seems stable, but needs more hours in the skies to be sure

Thiago, can you post your flightfx settings via a screenshot? I have DX10 going, but it does not produce the amazing results I see on yours and others. I am sure it will only need minor tweaks or even your .txt file would be good to try.

Hi Tom;
I actually did not have on DX10. But yes on DX9 on my other PC at work as mention it:
"Guys...
Let me know your results if you pretend to use it for DX9 by posting images."
I know that someone is running in DX10 the sweetFX. Have you tried google it? Tomorrow when I get to my work; where the FSX in DX9 is running, I post a picture how did I installed.
But fisrt, tell what do you have on your PC (Specs).
See ya.

Very nice. I like what I see so far. My FPS is improving every time, just by letting running. I have ORBX sceneries and runs stunning.
+1 Thiago just got Orbx this week and my frames are awesome.
I`m very glad to hear. Its just because ORBX was made for DX10 and up.

Sergio, do you have your frame limiter on? If so set it to unlimted. I had problems with the NGX the first time I flew with the limiter.

I don`t think it was PMDG. At what scenery were you using it?
I flew from KSEA to KSFO. KSEA sucks on frames, but SFO is not that bad. ORBX all the way down and flight beam KSFO for airport.

I have the normal FSX frame limiter on.

Somehow, I think that the more you fly with DX10 on, the better it gets.
I can't really technically explain this, but eventually my fps leveled at limiter which is 31fps.

FlightBeam and PMDG you will definitely will get low FPS for sure. FlightBeam is FPS killer and surround KSEA and KSFO always look so heavy on FPS. Even on Default sceneries. Like KMIA.

Yeah, Seattle I know is a frame killer, even with a Cessna, but SFO is usually pretty decent specially with ORBX. I have never had any issues with FlightBeam's SFO, but then again, they are re-making it for a reason.

+1 totally agree. But KATL itself it is so heavy on FPS that I think any addon will not be able to build a good one with less intense FPS.

Yes, it does seem that major cities in FSX have major lag spikes. Could it be from all the auto gen being generated.
PS. They can make it for P3D, no lag there...lol

I just installed P3D V2.4 Prof. in my older system. I`ll see what are the differences from our FSX with DX10.

Con't promise anything in your older system. However, on your FSX system it will run like a King. Make sure you follow some guides to get the sliders just right (a lot more sliders, specially for shadows).

Where I can find the guides. I`m actually having issues with my ATI HD Radeon 5780. It crash and makes P3D stop working. I have to find a solution now.

There are guides by doing simple Google searches for "P3d settings". As for the crashing, I don't know if ATI is compatible with the Ground Tesellation Prepar3d has. May want to check that with ATI.

Hey guys, I installed DX-10 fixer and installed per instructions, tweaked FSX.CFG and nvidia. Also installed Sweet FX as well.
Here's my problem, I have the FPS rate limiter set at 30 inside Nvidia. I also use TripleHeadToGo for three monitors for outside view and have a forth monitor thats mostly used for aircraft panels. I always use window mode but whenever I
open a panel, undock and drag it to the 4th monitor my FPS drops to 0.04. As soon as I close that panel or drag it back to the triple screens my FPS go back to about 15 FPS

In the file of the https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/79395559/DX10_HowTo.pdf there is a content about multiple monitors tweak.
Try to follow that content to see if you can fix that issue. Let me know.

OK,
A few questions.........My FPS is horrible at about 9FPS. Second DO I keep the DX -10 Controller running when flying in FSX?
OK here is what I found. WHen I open another window for the overhead, or throttle, radio stack, etc.......and I un-dock it and move it to another window it's fine until I resize it.
Then my mouse pointer goes bonkers and my FPS is cut in half. The good news is if I un undock everything goes back to being mormal. mouse pointer is normal and FPS are normal.
The question is....Can I set all of my un docked panels to a certain size when I start up FSX so when I undock them in preparation for a flight, they are already resized.
Thanks

Tom;
I think you should try to put everything in windowed mode. That way you are able to improve the FPS. In order to re-size each window, you need to go to the each panel on aircraft.cfg or panel.cfg and re-size in there. Lot`s of work thou. (don`t forget to always backup each file before changing anything.)
If you google it, you will be able to find how to change each window in FSX.

OK, I am making progress. I downloaded a free file called FSX Store Restore and it worked like a champ. I can save my windows to a certain size and position on my 4th monitor. I have only tried 1 DVA aircraft but worked without any problems.
The only question I do have about the app, is when you store a panel layout, it creates an 0.ini file, and I would like to rename it according to the aircraft the file goes with.
The only issue I have now is my FPS. Right now they are running at 10 FPS, so there is not much room to go down in FPS before I start to get stuttering

Thiago,
I looked at those 2 videos but really didn't help me. I appreciate you giving them to me though.
Right now when I start up at Dulles, FPS is about 8 or 9 . When I start taxing out it drops to 3 or 4 and after takeoff, up over 10000ft, the FPS are about 11 FPS. Not sure what is bogging it down like that. Doesn't matter what airport I choose, FPS are basically the same

Ok;
SO I think you might have to drop some textures. Making it less sharp. When you at the RWY or TWY, you do sometimes get lower FPS, but never close to 3 or 4. Keep searching and I`m sure you will find some tweak for multi display.

Every time I try and run the Tweaking and Tuning tool and I get the following message
Your request could NOT be processed.
Reason: There was a problem reading your configuration file. and I have no idea why

Tom, here are things I need from you to verify you are running the right tweak:
you FSX.CFG and your PC SPECS. I also need to know if you have hyperthreading "on" by checking your BIOS config. Let me know if you don`t how to check that.
And you might also look into this:

Ok,
I found this tweak for the OOM while using the PMDG B777. Worked really well and I did the CTP with no crash at all. A must say that it improved my FSX perfomance a lot: http://www.limegallery.co.uk/originals/oils-and-acrylics/i-cant-forget-2/777-2/
I found out on a ORBX forum from Nyxx. Much Thanks to this guy.
