Can someone please assist me in figuring out how to keep my joysticks working during flight? They work fine for a minute or two but after that, they just stop working completely. Then i have to resort to using the keyboard controls, which is very frustrating. Thanks in advance.

Not sure what joystick you're using. You might try updating the drivers. You should also be able to calibrate within FS/FSX. Those may help. You may also have a loose USB port. Hopefully these tips will help.

What operating system are you using? If you are using the windows 8, I'd suggest you to purchase the FSUIPC and assign your key that way.

I use the Pro Flight Yoke system with Win 8 and I did use the FSUIPC and assigned the keys but that still didnt work. I've updated drivers and reinstalled FSX as well.

I had the same issue, it was the USB port not have enough power to provide for the yoke, throttle and rudders. All I did was separate them and they never lost power again. If they lose power, then FSX looses connection with them.

Well guys, it worked fine for a little while but now I'm back at square one. It worked for about 4 hours straight with no problems though smile

mmm, then it might be a driver issue or the sim loosing connection with it. Is your sim having some lag issues, for example, it hangs for like 2-3 seconds every once in a while?

I did have it once again after the split, about 2-3 month ago and it was on a 5+ hour flight, all I did was disconnect and reconnect and it came back. To this day it hasn't happen again. (knocks on wood)

It happens on long flights, sometimes shorter ones, it varies. I can go thru a whole flight, then on the last leg, it just stops working..aggravating it is.

Hi Annette,

Go into device manager, then click on Universal Serial Bus Controler, then for each of the USB Root Hubs: click on the power management tab. Make sure the check mark in "Allow computer to turn off device" is not checked. Do that for every USB Root Hub device in the device manager.

Continue to let FSUIPC manage you axes (you did calibrate your axes - not only buttons within FSUIPC right?)

FWIW my longest flight was 14 hrs - FSX, PMDG T7, Saitek, FSUIPC and... windows 8.1 It is not all lost.

Omg, you don't know how good it is to hear that! I was about to give up on FSX because I was beginning to believe that 8.1 was the culprit causing the problems! There is hope after all.

Guys I think Ive figured out whats causing my problem. After reinstalling FSX and testing all my addons one by one, I reached the installation of the PMDG addon and the problems begin again. So I uninstalled PMDG and the problem was fixed. So, I guess I wont be using my PMDG anytime soon. frown
