Does anyone have an AMD build for FSX? I am asking because I am struggling to get decent framerate on my build. I tried all of these tweaks on avsim and youtube, but still got 1 digit framerate, specially when flying to or from a payware airport.
my config is an AMD 8350 - ATI 7950 - 16gigs RAM corsair vengeance - windows on SSD - and FSX on normal drive.
When I fly I use ASN - ORBX FTX - EFB - and payware airports.
thank you all for your input

I have always heard that AMD has some issues with FSX and games in general, however that could be old news since they have their new stuff coming out lately.

When I created my first build it had an Intel Core 2 Duo and an AMD Video Card but since then I realized that NVIDIA is the answer to gaming and flight simulation. Now I have a Sandy Bridge and GTX 570 which runs my FSX at 60FPS without hiccup. Tomorrow I'll be buying Prepar3d V2.4 finally. If you can put out, get an Intel and NVIDIA set up you'll be very pleased. If we could see a screenshot of your current situation it would help us to help you however. Hope you get up in the air just fine soon!

I have a 500w ocz psu,8 gig ram, nvidia gtx 560, amd phenom2 x4 920. Windows 7 64. I run fspassangerx, rex, orbix. Runs great. Set up nvidia inspector like you find online (search) very happy with how it runs for what it is. I also run detroit scenery x along with the before mentioned. Key is proper set up after a clean install.

I used ATI (AMD) video cards for quite some time. Eventually switched to NVIDIA and noticed an increase in visual enjoyment.

well speaking on fs9 no fsx, i run a amd 8120 clocked @ 4.2ghz and use a 7970 amd card running 5 screens... works fine and excellent frames.
you should know that fs9 uses GPU while FSX uses CPU

Were you getting better frames before the tweaking?

No in fact, I got better frames from tweaking especially cloud draw distance and detail and have the altitude contraint visibility settings now which runs smoother.
