Hey guys and gals, I am getting ready to purchase a new computer and I am not really a computer guy. Enjoy flying and emails and such. I have been doing some research and am reading in quite a few places that windows 8 and FSX do not play nice to each other. The issue is that most new computers only come with windows 8 if I want to get the processing speed I think I want. Any suggestions.

You can always buy a genuine Windows 7 64bit cd (not cheap), and do a complete reinstall of the system after you get the computer. Make sure, you either buy or download the driver programs before you reinstall the operating system. I'd suggest custom building, as it will be cheaper, and you are free to choose whichever processors and other goodies with it. If you do not feel comfortable building yourself a computer, there are always other websites that are willing to build it for yah. I know some here does that for a hobby that can help you out too!

Andrew, if you are buying a computer that comes with Windows 8.1 pre-installed, you are eligible to downgrade to windows 7 for free. See below
http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/licensing/sblicensing/pages/downgrade_rights.aspx#fbid=050RO9Ylez0
That being said, I am very happy with my 8.1 running FSX, PMDG (all), FSDreamTeam, vPilot, Aivlasoft, Rex Latitude, Rex Tex Direct, ASN and a few more. I even managed to get the Level-D 767 to cooperate.
Hope this helps
Edit: since this is *not* an end-user driven process, you need to make sure the vendor you are buying from offers the option - ask.

I heard that Windows 10 will be available free for personal use only.

The reason I doubt it is because Microsoft (like every other company out there) is very greedy. I'll read the article when I get home.
