Hello everyone,

I was wondering if someone could help me out. Last year I invested a fair amount of money into a custom built PC to run FSX. Its nice and typically I get 30FPS, but as soon as I run Active Sky Next the FPS drop to as low as 3(!). I know this isn't normal, especially on a new machine. What am I doing wrong?

I have the usual array of addons installed (PMDG 737/777, Aerosoft Airbus, FSdreamteam airports etc) but I'm wondering if its REX thats slowing me down?

I've been told I should be getting close to 50FPS and have it running as smooth as a dream, but its really not the case frown

Any help would be much appreciated

Sam, make sure you disable all other weather engines while running ASN, including SB/IVAO and of course REX. That is the only thing I can think of.

ASN does not control the graphics, but you can affect the simulator fps a couple of ways there. The main items to 'tweak' are the number of cloud layers(more layers = more strain on the system), the minimum and maximum cloud draw distance(the farther you draw the more resources you require) and enhanced overcast (off by default but will use more if you turn it on).

Great! Thanks Jim. I've taken on the suggestions so far and already my frames have jumped up.
