I work in IT and tell people to wait at least a week before installing updates. At work we install them on a test machine then implement them when everything is good to go. Microsoft updates on the 2nd Tuesday of the month so this bug didn't last long, and not as bad as the outlook update last fall that prevented users from getting/sending mail. I recommend changing from automatic update to notify me of updates. A little icon will show up wait a week and then download them.
