Recently, I've been having an issue with VATSIM ATC not being able to hear me. I've run the mic setup through Squawk and have no problems hearing myself. And it seems like ATC can hear me for a few mins., but then they can no longer hear me. The headphones in question are Turtle Beach and they've worked great up to this point. If I do decide to go get another pair, I think I'll get the wireless kind. These have an extremely long cord and if they are malfunctioning, it may be because they got caught in my chair wheels. Any suggestions?

It may be due to the internet connection.. or you may depress the PTT (Push to talk button) bit too early. Since you are using the FSX, you should be able to see when you press and depress the PTT button. If the ATC says he/she cannot hear you while you have PTT button lighted up, then it maybe either your internet connection or something with the microphone.
And one more thing. May I recommend you to use the vPilot client for the FSX? It is just as simple to use as the Squawkbox and it is a newer system than the SB

First, make sure your microphone is on, and If you can, make sure the microphone is via a DirectSound input.
Second, does disconnecting from the server and reconnecting change anything? It is also possible you might be lagging out because you are on a server far from you.
What do you use to connect to VATSIM? If using vpilot, I had to go into the chat and hold my push to talk button while vPilot is up. You can tell on COM1 if you are sending a signal, TX should light up.
Cheers

Thanks for the great tips, gents. Turns out the microphone wasn't set to DirectSound, for some reason. Thanks Alex!
