Have an interesting situation. I have a Windows 7 system that has been using a licensed version of
the OS that I am now 'losing' (MSDN), I have been debating a couple of alternatives. One is to buy
a new copy of Win7, and then just change the 'key'. I did this with a Windows 8.1 system that I
have, in that case it was new and software on it was in flux so I didn't care.
What I' wondering about though, is IF I change the license key, will existing software for FSX, say
PMDG, suddenly be invalidated, OR is that software protection just based on the computer hardware
and maybe the other parts of the OS that will not change if I do this?
The reason I want to know this, is if doing this will invalidate the sim, and require a reinstall anyway
then I may as well just reinstall the world, maybe onto an SSD. I have accumulated stuff on here for
years and would just as soon not have to try to reinstall everything 
Any experiences with this type issue would be appreciated.

This has nothing to do with Windows OS. Unfortunately, I have never done this, but to me, it sounds like getting a new PC, meaning that none of your stuff should be invalidated, and in the event that does occur, just call the company.
