With a long weekend here in the US for most of us, DVA Operations is pleased to release some new additions to the hangar, destinations, and a new accomplishment:

New Aircraft: Fairchild SA227 Metro
This historical aircraft, a small 19 seat turboprop, was used by Skywest out of Salt Lake City in the 1960’s. It joins the DVA hangar as part of the EMB120 program. Be sure to request the additional rating via the Pilot Center. A FS2004 version is available on Flightsim.com and there is a thread here discussing the aircraft: https://www.deltava.org/thread.do?id=0x1e3f2 Screenie of aircraft paint by E. Adalsteinsson (flightsim.com).

The Metro approach speed should be around 117 KIAS
Mmo is Mach 0.52

New SA227 Routes
To complement the addition of a new turboprop aircraft to our fleet are some historical Skywest routes. These new routes add three new airports in Utah to the database. These flight legs are from Skywest in 1975.

Schedule Database: DVH
Flight Numbers: 7501,7502
Route: KSLC-KDTA-KRIF-KMLF-KCDC-KSGU-KLAS
Length: 23nm TO 98nm

New Accomplishment: See separate thread coming tomorrow…

I should enjoy this plane... if I can find a way for the FS2004 version to work with FSX since I am not paying $50 for the RAZBAM. I'm curious as to what this accomplishment will be.

Eeek. The "San Antonio sewer pipe"! I will probably stick with my CV-440! Beautiful sight seeing, though. thanks Andrew.

Hold on a minute, KSGU was only constructed in 2010, long after Skywest retired the plane. Could you correct this so that the flight goes to the old St. George airport? I'm only referring to the SA227 flights; the E-120 flights should stay.

As cool as that former airport is, adding abandoned airports poses lots of issues with the system. The current charts show that airport as closed. There are often issues finding scenery. there are also often issues when 2 airports are too close together of getting flight reports to the wrong airport. We'll stick with the current one. We had issues with a closed airport in Berlin and flight reports being invalid or questioned and looked at a second time. This sort of stuff takes an enormous amount of time to troubleshoot when our efforts are better served in other ways.
