Hey, everyone. Really been enjoying the experience of using Delta VA to organize my FSX time. I never realized all the advantages that a VA provides. Thanks to all of you for being part of such a cool operation!

I apologize if I should know the answer to this already, but I had a question about the flights I am eligible to fly. I am currently in the Stage 2 (737-800) program, and I am wondering if I am able to select routes that are scheduled for higher stage aircraft, but that are short enough to safely fly in the 738. I am thinking in particular of a KLM route in Africa from Kilimanjaro to Dar es Salaam. It is listed for the A330 (stage 4?), but the distance is only 200-something NM. Am I able to fly and get credit for this route on ACARS using the 738?

Thanks in advance for helping me clarify.

Best,
-Noah

You may fly any aircraft on any route in spite of what is scheduled as long as:
a) you have the rating for the aircraft you intend to fly
b) the aircraft you choose to fly has the range to make the flight distance and
c) the flight leg appears in the day's schedule or you have made a flight assignment

You can find an in-depth discussion of this topic in the DVA Pilot's Manual starting on Page 19.

You can fly any route provided its in the aircraft your're rated for and it can make the trip with legal fuel reserves. Look at the aircraft profiles in the Pilot Center for the acceptable ranges.

Also keep in mind there are minimum flight lengths for the flight to count towards promotion. See the Pilot's Manual for more information. I believe for the 737 its 172sm.

Speaking on the new manual, where would you like us to send corrections for spelling and grammar? I know it is impossible to see them all, only trying to help :-)
