Ok, I've got everything running on Win8.1 now with the exception of the controller drop issue but what I really want to know is this: I have seen many posts about people experiencing smooth performance and no issues when it comes to crashes or stutters. I can't seem to find anything anywhere as to how this is achieved. I'm running everything fine now however, about every 5 or so minutes I get a 3 or 4 second period where the sound and everything stutters. I'm assuming its from a background process but I can't pin it down. I did not have this issue in Win7 so if anyone of you guys who has been lucky or skilled enough to get FSX working fine on Win 8 please help a brother simmer out smile

One way that helped fsx run a little smoother for me on 8.1 is that I dedicated some memory from my HDD to run fsx. I had to go into settings on windows. I'll see if I can get some detailed instructions on how to do that. It seems to run a little smoother for me. Also tweaking fsx cfg works too. smile
