Hey, everyone. I noticed another VA that has a "Best Landings of the Day" leaderboard on their website, much the way DVA has newest hires, recent promotions, accomplishments, etc. They seem to use vertical speed at touchdown as the main indicator. Is this something we might be able to implement at DVA using ACARS data?

Well...... the thing with the landing score card in other virtual airlines is that they mostly focus on the how "soft" one lands. We, the DVA ( I am sure the AFVA is the same way), does not promote a soft landing. Soft landing makes good impression on passengers, and will induce less stress on the airframe when done correctly, but it sometimes results in a unsafe condition such as: unnecessary extended floating, which also results on high pitch (which could result in the tail strike), low airspeed, and rarely, but ultimately running off of the runway. It also tends people to come way below the glide slope which will also have great chance of hitting something close to the ground...
From what I've been hearing around, we used to have the board like that, but decided to get rid of it due to the reason above. There is still a way for you to view the landing statics under Statistics -> Landing statistics.
