Dust off your piston props! I've added some historical Pan Am flights, this time down in South American. In the 1940's, Pan Am expanded their routes in South American to not only include flights from the states to countries, but also to fly on domestic routes in and amongst the South American countries. I'm working on adding the rest of these flights as I add airports so please be patient a little longer. Some can be found tough in our Pan Am Historical Database.

In addition, Pan Am used Ascension Island in the South Atlantic as a stopping place when Constellations flew across from Brazil to Africa. I've added these flights as well and this now British island airport.

Keep your wits about you. Some of these airstrips are dirt/grass and require short field aircraft.

Flights up the Amazon River to Peru
Schedule Database: PAH
Flight Numbers: 3010-3014
Route: SBBE-SBSN-S
BEG-SWKO-SBTF-SWOB-SKLT-SPQT
Length: 95nm TO 384nm

Domestic Flights in Bolivia
Schedule Database: PAH
Flight Numbers: 3015-3016
Route: SLLP-SLOR-SLCB-SLTR-SLSM
Length: 42nm TO 171nm

Domestic Flights in Bolivia
Schedule Database: PAH
Flight Numbers: 3017-3018
Route: SLTR-SLMG-SLJO-SLGY-SLRI-SLCO
Length: 38nm TO 160nm

Two related accomplishments coming in the near future.

One note. Pan Am used the Lockheed Lodestar for the Bolivia and Brazil flights I added. We don't have this in our fleet so I substituted the DC-3, one of the most commonly flown commercial aircraft in the 40's.

For those of you with connected log books, I just realized its more work to get to Belem from North America. I found a JFK to Trinidad flight so I'll fly that one and start my legs from there up the river.

For those of you wondering where these cool domestic routes came from, here is a link to the map: http://www.timetableimages.com/ttimages/pa/pa46/pa46-07.jpg They actually link to each other but I haven't filled in those flights yet.

Enjoy!

Add a subsequent leg SPQT to SPIM. This historically had an intermediate stop but I wanted a back door also so that pilots with connected log books wouldn't have to fly all the legs back to Belem.

I would have made this post earlier, but I just didn't have the time to. SBEG, the current airport of Manaus, was only built in 1976, long after Pan Am retired the DC-3/Lodestar. The airport SBEG replaced is now an operating military airport: SBMN. Correction please? (Note this applies for all PAH DC-3 flights departing or arriving at Manaus). Thanks for the flights!

Darren, SBMN is not in FS2004 or FSX. SBEG is in FSX (and not in FS2004 actually).

If you find the small historical inaccuracies a problem, perhaps do the homework yourself with FSX/FS2004 before you comment. Or, don't fly them if you don't want.
