I do not know if anyone can help me with this but when flying the PMDG 737 my system pauses randomly throughout the flight. Everything is normal as far as the way the display looks and the sound continues as normal also. The aircraft is just frozen in time for approx 7-10 secs. After the pause everything just continues as normal. The PC does not lock up during the pauses. I have updated to the most recent display driver as I thought that might be the problem. I only have a low power system.
PC spec Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83 GHz, 8Gb Memory and NVidia GeForce 9600GT. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Regards Colin

Colin, what programs do you have running in the background? I had the same issue on my old system. I would have to close some of the applications running in the background to free up the memory before I could fly.

If you are using the ACARS 'automatic flight saving' feature, try disabling it and see if the issue is resolved.

Hi Jim
Yes, it was enabled. I will give it a go and see if that helps. Thanks

Hi Kevin
Yes, I do have a lot running, PFPX, ASN, FSCommander, Navigraph Charts, EZDok, Excel. Perhaps I need to get rid of some of those ;-)

Same thing happened to me and it was the automatic flight saving. disable it and just type in .save in the ACARS chat box every once in a while to save the flight.

If it's a 7-10 second pause, ACARS auto flight saving may be the symptom, but not the underlying cause. I have it enabled for all of my aircraft, including the 737NGX and I barely notice it. Every now and then I get a quarter second stutter that might be an auto-save (or may be something else).
I would check to ensure that you have told your anti-virus to not check the FSX directory, as well as your My Documents\Flight Simulator X files directory. You can probably also tell it not to check My Documents\ACARS, but that's pretty low volume in terms of writes.
Cheers!

Thank you Joe and Luke. I have turned off autosave and that seems to have solved the problem

That's fine, just be aware you're not going to be able to restore your flights in case of a FS or computer crash. Make sure you save manually regularly via the .save command.
Cheers!
