If you already haven't read the article by Richard himself, or if it's too long, essentially the gulf operated airlines such as Emirates, Qatar, Etihad, etc... are receiving HUGE government grants and subsidies to operate, essentially zeroing out all expenses, and allowing the airline to invest huge amounts back into itself and as a result, acquire some of the world's most expensive aircraft.

This makes me quite sad to be honest, because Dubai is actually a really interesting place to go to. My question is, if I fly this route will I still be given the legs and hours for completing the flights?

Once the flight drops out of our schedule, then no, you can't receive credit for it since its not in our schedule. However, let me know when its gone and I'll create an historical flight for it so you can fly it in the future. Its currently DVA008 leg 1.

OK. Just created DVH 008 Legs 1 and 2. They're now in our perpetual calendar and will live on as long as DVA does! smile

The good thing about our outdated schedule is that many of the flights the real world Delta is cancelling are still here in our database. rawk

Oh... lol, I though historical flights were more for the DC6, FH227, 727, etc... Not actually flights we've dropped.

This changes everything then.

American is planning on starting DFW/AUH with their codeshare partner Etihad......US customers who want to connect for fly to the UAE will still have a US carrier choice and United is also planning on keeping IAD/DXB. Not 777 rated here so I fly in and out of DXB with Emirates and DXB's location also makes most of EK's destinations within 8 hours of flight time.

Andrew may be able to account for it in the Hitoric schedules. I don't think RW Delta will add the route back to th schedule as long as we/they have to compete against governemnt subsidized airlines.
