A quick note to Historic Program fliers: make sure the airports you intend to use are actually in your sim's scenery data base. This is not quite so true for FS2K, but is more so for FS9 and definitely true for FSX and P3D. I can can't speak to X-Plane but I suspect it is also true for that sim. If your sim does not have the airport, you have two options. 1.Choose a valid flight to the current valid airport. Or, 2., find a scenery area for the old airport that will work with your sim. I fly FSX and have used many of the FS9 scenery areas from CalClassic with no problems other than some occasional texture issues.
Remember that some old airport authors will exclude the current airport scenery area completely. Examples: old KDEN (Stapleton) excludes the new KDEN, the CalClassic California 1962 scenery excludes the current Sacramento Metro (KSMF) while restoring the original KSAC to 1960 configuration. From a recent PIREP, it was found the old Surabaya Juanda airport WRSJ does not appear to be modeled in P3D. So, for Historic Program pilots, besides not having magenta line to follow, make sure you'll have actual runways from which to takeoff and land!!
