See above for the new DVH flights. Enjoy and with this recent weather you all might want to fly someplace warm.

Awesome! I'll head on over to PSP (Palm Springs, CA). Must be warmer and less snowy/rainy there.

My first flight on a commercial airline was in a Western Air Lines 727 from KMSP to KPSP.
It was a -30° January morning flight that I almost missed. The FBO in Hayward, WI (KHYR) flew me to KMSP in a Piper Cherokee Six. He had heating ducts in the cowl openings since 5am because it was -40° that morning in Hayward. It took him longer than he had planned to get the engine compartment heated up enough to get the engine started. I made the Western flight with all of 5 minutes to spare.
I had a window seat over the wings even with the mains. We took off on 12R out of KMSP. Being my first flight it scared me when the pilot pulled back the power a bit after a couple of minutes and cleaned up the flaps. I felt a sinking sensation for a couple of seconds. Then, as we climbed the flight engineer (crew of 3 on the 727s) came down the aisle, stopped next to my row, got on his knees. He pulled up a section of the carpet, opened a hatch in the floor. He pulled out a flashlight and was looking for something under the access hatch. After 10 seconds he closed the hatch, replaced the carpet, got up and returned to the flight deck without saying a word. Of course my thoughts were WT#!!!???
A few minutes later the Captain came on the PA to give the usual 'Welcome Aboard' spiel. Then he said, "BTW, a few of you (yeah, just a few) may have noticed our Flight Engineer checking out something in the floor. Well, we didn't get a green light for one of the mains. Occasionally this will happen when it's way below zero. He was verifying that the gear was up and locked. There are visual indicators under that floor hatch. Don't be alarmed, everything is fine."
