Just added a great classic liner that Pan Am and TWA briefly flew, the Boeing S-307 Stratoliner. It was a commercial aircraft, only 10 of which were built, and became the base model of what would become the Boeing B-17 (of which way more than 10 were built.).

There is only one real world aircraft left and its in the Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air and Space museum in Washington DC.

Go to the calclassic site for an FS2004 and FSX version. To obtain the secondary rating, go to the Pilot Center and request additional ratings for the DC6 program.

I took it up and it handles like a clunky 747 in some sense. Easy view out the cockpit though. Here is my practice landing: https://youtu.be/IVnU0-ATb4k

As a side note to our intrepid aviators flying FS9: Glenn Duncan made a custom panel for this airplane that is a great alternative to Jens' panel. You can find it and the update at flightsim.com or avsim.com: just search for Glenn Duncan. Glenn spent many, many hours modeling systems and performance to make this panel an outstanding addition to a great classic airplane. Unfortunately, the panel will probably not work in FSX.

I took it up on a short flight CYS to DEN. I had to crab the whole way on final approach due to a front right quartering crosswind and for most of the approach, the runway was right in line with one of the window pane struts. It was quite a challenge but some rocking back and forth got me a glimpse of the PAPI's.

Funny when on final in a prop instead of a jet. It feels like you're on final forevvverrrrrr.

Very neat airplane. Enjoyed it on a short ~30nm hop around Germany earlier; nothing like a little taildragger action to put hair on your chest!
