Just wanted to provide a reminder and explanation with regard to flight report comments made by staff. This is the opportunity for a human to review your flight report. If something looks out of the ordinary, you may receive a comment. You may also receive constructive comments. Hopefully, if you have flown a 12 hour flight with no time acceleration, you'll receive something positive. in some cases, the system flags issues based on the web site database. This may include runway length issues, invalid SID/STAR, etc. These are automated and flight report reviewers mostly leave them. They are never criticisms of the flight. In addition, we're working to update the database so some minimum runway lengths are not exact and a flag may be thrown.
A held flight report is an opportunity to clarify and answer questions and is a way for the pilot to interact with the flight report reviewers if necessary. Pilots who have a flight report held who ignore the emails from staff can expect to have these reports rejected for lack of response after a week or so.
The criteria for approval of flight reports (not Flight Academy or check rides) is outlined in the Pilot Manual.
Our staff works very hard to review and approve your flight reports promptly. Thanks.

I echo Andrew. For the (limited) reports I review, if one is held, I send a reminder email five days in if I haven't heard back and reject on the seventh. As for automated remarks that are put in by the system, most pilots know these are automated so I usually delete them because as Andrew said, they aren't informative to the pilot at all, unless it says not eligible for captain or something along the lines of importance.
Regards,

I ALWAYS try to respond to held flight reports ASAP and actually appreciate the fact that a human took their time to catch the little (or large) glitches in the PIREPs.
It is also worth mentioning that I have NEVER had a flight report rejected after responding to the reviewer with a rational explanation.

The fact that we actually get real humans to look at our PIREPS is amazing, and we should all be very thankful for that. I have never had an issue with a PIREP, and although I have had some flights held and subsequently rejected for good reasons, for the most part everybody is pretty lax about them. The comments also can sometimes be very useful as well
