The DC-9-21 was a suped up version of the DC-9-10 series. Only 10 were made and flown by SAS. However, its an important piece of history within the Douglas family.

Here is the recipe:
Take a DC-9-10
Put -30 P&W JT8D-11 engines on it.
Shorten the fuselage slightly.
Add -32 wings

You end up with a more powerful DC-9 with better short field capabilities and stronger engines.

SAS was the only operator of this fine aircraft but we've added it to our fleet. To obtain the DC-9-21 secondary rating, you can request additional ratings in the MD-88 program from the Pilot Center.
