Hi all,
Im trying to make ACARS working but unfortunately I cant get it done. I installed ACARS but during the installation I get an error: "Error setting data directory ooermissions - Invalid filesystem path missing". Well it took me a long time to install everything I actually tried to install steam in a other drive as C Windows but this gives problems to FSUIPC ( another discussion I think) so now I have everything on my C drive which is only 100 GB (the other are a TB. Ok I dont think this is the issue because it is a standard installation. So what is wrong in the filesystem.
Besides of that I read in the manual I need to change files wow this make me scary to distroy the working of FSX SE and or my PMDG 737NGX. I hope some experienced members could help me with these issues.
I have finaly FSX again on my pc it took me 48 hours to install and download everything and it is still not how I like but ok.
Thanks in advance Ray

Hi Ray,
Welcome to DVA and so sorry for your installation troubles.
Here is what I would do:
Install FSX SE (its been tweaked to run more smoothly)
Install the DVA Registry fixer from the fleet library in the Pilot Center. This makes everything point to where FSX SE is installed.
Install ACARS
Make sure your firewall and anti-virus are allowing the acars folders and the programs through.
Run both as administrator.
Installing ACARS should also include the latest version of FSUIPC (free version). You can also manually get this from the peter dawson web site (free version).
Install the rest of your addons.
This should get you going. I hate starting from square one. I have not had to do any reinstalls since FSX SE on my computer and even added an SSD, transferring everything over without a hitch. Perhaps I'm just lucky...

Installed the registry fixer
Installed ACARS again
I have FSUIPC lates version as payware.
I still got the same message
The addons were allready installed, is that getting any problems Should I re-install them?
Yes I dont like to start all over again I really wish toinstall all my addons on a other disk.
Thanks a lot

After installation I get the same message as before I added a screenshot of what ACARS shows when I startup and connect.
I hope this will work

Yes, I think you'll need to reinstall the payware. I think also the FSUIPC will need to be reinstalled. Leave nothing already on there. Start from scratch with the add-ons.

Sorry Raymond. I believe the add-ons need to go on your same drive as your FS program.
I do believe also the ACARS program must go on your c: drive. I installed on another drive and got issues once. For some reason, it just likes the C drive better.
FWIW, I have a nice 500GB drive but my main C drive is a 120GB SSD. I install all FS stuff on the smaller SSD and things move much faster than when the 500GB magnetic disk drive was the C drive. I use the larger drive now for backup, keeping the install files for my payware, and for other games.

Ok clear Andrew that means that I have to go clean with my pc and change the drive of windows. But I had installed ACARS on the same drive as Steam and FSX even after I removed all adds I got the same error. I dont want to anoy you or anybody but Im getting a bit desperate after 3 days of installing and un-installing.
One thing I just found out is that I cant update my windows the company where i bought my pc blocked this so maybe its an issue regarding windows updates im not sure about that. I bought the pc in the netherlands but im now in brazil. So also taking in count that A bigger C drive would be benefitial. Im thinking to find someone who could help me re-instal windows on a other drive. My C drive is only 100 GB but I have as mentioned before some drive that are bigger (200GB, 750GB, 890GB and 2.7TB).
So if I would start all over again I think that would help a lot I also could download all important upgrades from win7.
Anyhow I appreciate very much you help me

There's no specific requirement for such. ACARS 3.0 should work on any Windows version since XP that has .NET Framework 4.0 or greater and the VC++ 2010 redistributables. If you're getting errors setting permissions, there's something wrong with your system. Are you running the installers as Administrator?
Cheers!

Hi Luke,
Yes I carry out everything as administrator. I have done a complete re-install of windows and still got the message as described in my first post. I can confirm also that I have the .Net framework 4.5.1 I will try to log a file tonight but Im very sceptic at the moment I dont know if there is something wrong with my mahcine or with me. But I litterly cleaned my whole machine installed won7 and than downloaded FSX SE after I carried out the DVA register tool and after the ACARS installation. WHile installing it gives me an error regarding a path i.e. "Error setting data directory permissions - Invalid filesystem path missing". Because of this error I think it will not work but again I will try it this evening.
But I think my PFPX is working fine this has ACARS as well so I coul log a flight like this, am I right?
Thanks

If ACARS cannot write to its data directories, it will refuse to start - let's see what ACARS says when it starts up.

No. Every software package that claims "ACARS" implements something different.
Cheers!

DVA ACARS version 3.1 Started - Green color
Detected FSUIPC Bridge to MSFS/Prepar3d - Green color
Using FSUIPC Bridge - Green color
Running as administrator - Orange color.
Last one is that ok? when I start the program i click R mouse button and select "Run as administrator"
I hope this is ok
Thanks for all the help
