Not sure what the issue is. Could you elaborate a little more Patrick. I run fsx steam myself. Also could you lost your computer specs? And are you running a modded fsx.cfg file?

I got a windows 10 for a gift and have been using flight sim windows 7 since 2/7/2006 and nearly 1,000,000 miles. But with windows I have nothing but trouble and micro soft just cuts me off so I bought a Microsoft X Steam. My question is should I do away with micro soft X before I download the steam version or just leave it on my computer.?

Hmmm if it were me, I would go with steam. Uninstall the boxed version of fsx. I've heard the boxed version of fsx has given many people headaches with a bunch of problems and bugs. I personally use fsx steam, had to tweak the fsx.cfg file a bit but it runs pretty decent.
Let me know if you need any assistance with getting the fsx.cfg file configured. I know a bit more about it now than when I first started.

From personal experience, what you're saying is mostly correct...some headaches do exist when you have boxed FSX and FSX SE (Steam) running side-by-side.
However, don't think that simply uninstalling the boxed version will make your problems magically float away. Even when you uninstall the old boxed version, remnants of it remain causing similar complications as running them side-by-side would. Completely removing all traces of FSX boxed is a difficult project that Patrick likely does not want to take on. If you do want to try and wipe it from your system, then go right ahead, Patrick.
My recommendation... Just run them side-by-side until you get a new computer or a fresh operating system. If you find that you absolutely cannot live with the setup, then uninstall and install Steam from scratch. I have been running them side-by-side since December 2014 and have learned to live with the very minor headaches...mostly aircraft installation issues that can be worked around.
Ideally, you would want to install Steam on a brand new computer or fresh Windows operating system that has never seen any FSX or FSX SE Steam installations. So when you get a new computer that has never had an FSX install or you have to install a new operating system, that is the time that you want to install Steam only (no boxed version).
Again, this is my opinion having run this setup for over 1 1/2 years.

You're welcome, bud. And again, you will likely experience a few add-on installation issues here and there. But this is just something you must deal with since you have an existing FSX boxed installation lurking on your computer. Removing all traces of FSX boxed completely can be a nightmare. Simply clicking "Uninstall" will not make your problems go away. It's a much more detailed process than that. I have decided to just run them side-by-side until I buy a new computer next year. Would I run them side-by-side again if I had a brand new computer and were about to install a new sim? No!!! But I have made the best out of my side-by-side setup by using different tweaked setups on the two installations. It works well for me.
Happy Landings

Awesome! Hope it works Patrick. Also I know some good afcad files for airports which are easy to install.
