Hello Everyone,

I am an avid FS9 user, but I have purchased the FSX about 18 months ago. My problem is, I have a few add ons like MD11, B744 (PMDG) and love to fly them. However, especially with the MD11 after a few hours into the flight eg. today 3.5 hours from KBOS to EINN, the simulator freezes. The symptoms are, the graphics turn a grey colour, the lat/long does not advance and the "egg timer" is constantly showing. If I leave the system running, the graphics returns to normal, but the sim is just standing still as if it was in a pause mode. Other indications are messages "simulator not responding", ACARS "not responding". When I click on the screen with the mouse, the screen goes into the grey mode again. Eventually the sim will turn off. This problem exists with all add ons as well like FS2Crew, Flight Sim CommanderX.
I would be greatful, if someone could help me. BTW, I have reinstalled the simulator numerous times to overcome this problem.

Is it possible that you don't have the option in FSX to under General Options to "pause on task switch" turned off? This will allow you to continue to fly while switching to ACARS, Internet Explorer, etc.. Hope this helps.

You need to d/l and copy and paste the UIAutomationcore.dll in your FSX root folder.

Thanks for your input Jim. I did have the pause switch turned off. However, I will try the next comment of Vincenz, see if iot will work.

Thank you for your advice Vincenzo. I have downloaded the dll file, pasrted it to FSX. I shall try my assignment again. smile

Well, almost fixed. The flight went into 5.7 hours and 8nm from landing had the same problem. Grey out, then froze. Since I was also logged into VPA, I could have my PIREP "forced", consequently had my flight credited. However Delta ACARS would not give it to me, thus my Flight Assignment is still pending.

Have you tried waiting, Miklos? This has happened to me a few times as well (both with the PMDG 777 and the FSL A320) but after about 7-8mins FSX comes back to life and the flight continues.
Also, check that your Affinity Mask settings are correct. Here's a link to a calculator for that very purpose: http://www.gatwick-fsg.org.uk/affinitymask.aspx?SubMenuItem=hardware
