This weekend (Oct 21) marks the 66th anniversary of the first flight of the Martin 4-0-4. To celebrate this event, we have added the Martin 4-0-4 to the fleet in the DC-6 program. You can obtain this rating via the DC-6 program as a secondary rating. The Martin 4-0-4 was operated commercially by ASA (eventually a Delta RJ provider) and Southern Airways who eventually was acquired by Northwest. It was also flown by Eastern and TWA here in the US.
FS2004 and FSX freware versions can be obtained from Calclassic.com or flyawaysimulation.com.
To obtain the rating for this aircraft, request additional ratings for the DC-6 program via the Pilot Center.

Not be forgotten, NWA was a launch customer for the Martin 202, a much anticipated replacement for the DC-3. Convair was a little behind with their CV240, but the M202 had a fatal design flaw. Read more here: http://www.nwahistory.org/assets/13_dec_newsletter.pdf
Thanks Drew! What a great surprise!

A couple more items on the Martin. The 404 was actually a very good airplane but the damage done by the 202 debacle was significant. The airlines that put the 404 into service usually tried to call it something else like Easter's "Silver Fleet". Nice.
For those pilots used to the CalClassic FS9/FSX fleet, the Martin does not have a VC. The gauges are in the panel.cfg but the VC panel was never constructed in the model. That being said, the airplane flies pretty well and the Tom Gibson's NOTEPAD remains a good planning tool.
