I have not been able to add any aircraft from the DVA fleet installer to FSX Steam, or from any other source for that matter. I have both FSX boxed and FSX Steam installed on my computer however the installer does not recognize that FSX Steam is installed, only that FSX is installed. I saw a post here that said to remove FSX Boxed to fix this issue. OK, but when I look at control panel/remove programs Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Acceleration is listed directly above Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition. Can I remove the Boxed Acceleration without messing up the Steam Edition? Or are they dependent on each other? I have added many planes the my FSX Boxed with no issues. So far the Steam version is running much better then the Boxed version ever has. Any suggestions?

FSX boxed and FSX: Steam are completely independent of each other. I use FSX: Steam with fleet and add on aircraft with no issues.

I had the problems you describe when i had both boxed and steam FSX installed. Then I got a new computer and decided not to install the boxed FSX, but only FSX Steam. With only one version of FSX installed, everything is fine. Older installers, including the DVA fleet installers, accept FSX Steam as FSX and work ok.

Thank You for your replies, I un-installed FSX Boxed and all associated files that I can find. Now when I try the DVA installer for the 737NG there is no option for FSX Steam showing and the FSX selection is grayed-out. I do have FS9 installed on my computer and the selection for it does show up. FSX Steam still opens and runs fine so apparently there is no issue with it.

Have you tried running the registry fixer from the DVA library yet?

Tried the registry fixer, it only recognizes that FS9 is installed on my computer and nothing else, and will only apply the fixer to FS9. Something is preventing the installers from recognizing that FSX Steam is installed on my computer. Any suggestions??

I believe that if you have both FS9 and FSX installed, it may be creating a conflict. I had to finally ditch FS9 to get things working smoothly.

Update: I have since been able to download add-on aircraft to FSX Steam from Simviation.com with no problems. Also ACARS DOES recognize that FSX Steam is installed on my computer and it runs just fine. The issue is that the DVA Fleet Installer does not recognize FSX Steam. It seems that there is no one from the DVA IT, or the development team out there. Who is actually created this program and are they listening? The helpful suggestion from fellow members is much appreciated, but a response from the folks who actually created DVA fleet installer would be great.

This is a screenshot of the DVA Fleet installer on my PC.

http://prnt.sc/eeiy35

I run FSX:Steam and it shows up as FSX in the installer, but if you look at the file path it points to Steam. Can you post a screenshot of that screen for you? I have tried just about every DVA Fleet installer aircraft and besides some issues with panels that I was able to fix, they all work in Steam.

The only other thing I can suggest is a complete removal of FSX: Steam and a fresh reinstall.

I did exactly that two days ago. I uninstalled FSX steam as well as all SIM Connect Client programs using Control Panel. It was a LOT more difficult to get logged back in to Steam this time for some reason. After the reinstall............ same result.
Thank you for your help, I will keep trying to fix this.

It has to be a conflict with FS9, otherwise I have no idea. Best of luck fixing it.

I think the problem stems from the fact that FSX:SE will write its location to different registry entries if FSX is already installed. I'm not sure how to get around this unless one does a complete FSX removal and then removes and reinstalls FSX:SE. Even then that might not do it.

I'll take a look at switching the registry fixer to look in the FSX:SE paths.

Cheers!

OK I have fixed everything, When I installed FSX Steam, by default it goes to Program files(x86) in a stand alone file all by itself. It never asked where I wanted to install it. I simply moved it form there to the Microsoft Games folder right below the FS9 folder already there. Now the DVA Fleet Installer does see that FSX Steam is installed and my 737-800 finally DOES appear! Life is good! smile
