Hey everyone, hope you can help me. Having an issue where it looks like different areas around airports are being replaced with water textures. I cant seem to pinpoint when it started happening. I thought maybe it was the ORBX freeware libraries so i uninstalled those but it didnt change anything. Though maybe it was my REX 4 so i restored the default textures. I cant seem to get it back to normal. Any ideas? Using P3D v 3.4.

1. elevation (mesh, airport corrections)
2. landclass definitions (your likely cause)
3. vector (can cause 1 above on its own)
one or all of the above are conflicting between some products you have or are in the wrong order in the library. I had the same with tropical America and the Caribbean 2.0 (land in middle of water). removed it. it would conflict with orbx global products, most likely openLC
the libraries are only there for orbx products and how they update. they have no effect on what you see in your FS, especially in non ORBX airports (ie ftx, vector, lc will all work with obsolete libraries just fine. they are mainly needed for object flow with their airports - changing of seasons, animation, blending between orbx products with textures etc)

orbx stuff goes below your other addon sceneries, and orbx libraries go above all other oerbx stuff but still below your other addon scenery, like so
[Area.236]
Title=FTX_AA_AYPY
Local=ORBX\FTX_PI\FTX_AA_AYPY
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=236
[Area.237]
Title=FTXAA_ORBXLIBS
Local=ORBX\FTX_AU\FTXAA_ORBXLIBS
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=237
[Area.238]
Title=Addon Scenery
Local=Addon Scenery
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=238
then after addon scenery you have all your other stuff you've added to the sim
[Area.239]
Title=FlyTampa-StMaarten
Local=E:\FSX\FlyTampa\StMaarten\
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=239
and it keeps going. There are literally a handful of products that do not follow that scheme. orbx AEC entries and aspen X altitude entries, which you don't have I believe as products anyway.
As always copy your scenery cfg file before you do anything.

Man, i just cant seem to figure it out. I completely disable all of my addons and left it with stock scenery only, still showing water in between taxiways etc. https://ibb.co/d1jUfa

Dare I say corrupted files in the default installation. You might want to wipe it all clean and start fresh.

I figured it out. just posting here in case someone else has this problem in the future. It was definitely the default ORBX libraries. I uninstalled everything cleaned my system out and then reinstalled only P3D. I booted up a flight at PHNL and everything was normal, right textures everything. Exited and installed ORBX central with the default ORBX library. Started a new flight at PHNL, water textured between all the taxiways and runways. Uninstalled ORBX and now cant get the normal textures back.

Christian, I was able to fix it without having to uninstall P3D. After completely uninstalling ORBX Central and deleting all the orbx stuff out of the scenery folder, I ran the "Install_Scenery.msi" file that comes in the P3D installation zip file. A bit easier than having to reinstall all the addons again.

Interesting. I have gotten that issue with
- ultimate terrain x tropical America and caribbean (v 1.0 and v2.0 both)
- 9m freeware mesh (wayne evans mesh is notorious for that) with freeware/default and payware airports that do not have overriding elevation correction bgls (ALL latinvfr products, old imaginesim products)
I've also gotten spikes in the sky due to SRTM mesh errors where rooftops would reflect elevation into the stratosphere and cause terrain to go up to 50000+ feet.
all were easily fixed by removing/disabling the offending addon or specific mesh.bgl or in case of UTX, elevation corrections for FSX airports (upon which some 3rd party airports rely).
but I've never had a situation where stock scenery would cause such beheavior unless the stock files themselves were somehow modified and not restored to default by an addon. some mesh such as Fsgenesis (non nextmap) would install itself into default terrain areas and be unable to be deactivated; only an uninstall of an entire region would revert to stock) but I've never had an issue with fsg mesh. worst ive seen with them is +20 feet airport elevations. im sure some are worse but nothing you would take an airliner to that ive seen
As far as orbx, the only product of theirs that affects elevation is vector. the orbx regions (nca, England, pacific fjords etc) already come with airport corrections. the only wildcard is vector and its automatic correction detection (from the configuration utility) is so so in detecting deviations. it cannot and will not correct issues with 3rd party mesh however. only potential issues with vector. so if you run vector atop other mesh, it wont address them.
I said earlier that in my experience the most common cause is actually landclass errors. that might appear like elevation errors because of water/ground being where it isn't supposed to be, but that's how most landclass issues manifest. ive had tons of problems with payware and freeware literally destroying my entire landclass structure. there is a freeware Barbados island scenery that for instance will corrupt your ocean and it will not go away. it isn't compatible with orbx LC and process is nor reversible in my testing. had to wipe FS
what I do now is I get a basic confirmed working version of FS and I image the hard drive where FS is and I copy all pertinent FS files on the system drive (cfgs). if something I install makes it impossible to recover, I just use the image and related versions of cfgs AND autogen (that's important, as many addons will now modify your autogen). just backup the entire autogen directory.

Where was that located?

Christian, when you downloaded Prepar3d it should come in a zip file. It is one of the .msi files packed in the zip file.

Probably should have clarified. I use FSX so I'm not sure if we have the same type of file.
