Warning: This needs patience.
I installed DVA's A320 (after my recent promotion) and as part of that package also FSUIPC4.583. During FSX start up a message was displayed warning me about the use of "a third -party software program (add-on)". It referred to FSUIPC4.583. As I trusted the program I chose the YES option to run the program.
Subsequently during the start-up of FSX a warning messages from Microsoft Flight Simulator X appeared advising me that (1) "Microsoft Flight Simulator X has stopped working (2) A fatal error occurred"(3) "Microsoft FSX is restarting " only to fail again with the repeat of the previous messages.
I suspected that the error was caused by the updated FSUIPC version so I deleted it. I was able to start FSX but when I engaged ACARS they were not happy, advising: "Maybe running on WideClient, but FS not running on Server, or wrong FSUIPC".
I reinstalled FSUIPC4.583 but was still unable to start FSX as described above.
Finally - in desperation - I restarted the PC but there were no improvements.

Thanks for that advice. Unfortunately when I tried to do that I ran into all sorts of obstructions such as being forced to get Google Chrome, when I select the "key" option - which slows down everything and I don't want it and when I went for the "download" option I was forced into accepting "Free manuals index" with no option (as far as I can see) of downloading FSUIPC4 is 4.96.
I would be quite happy to wait for someone to update the Delta Installer with the up-to-date FCUIPC. There is nothing as user friendly. Going via "schiratti" is hopeless. My "tech savvy" is limited.

First off, you don't need Google Chrome. Secondly it sounds like you ran into some adware or something. The link above brings you to the page which right when it loads has the link for FSUIPC.
This is the direct download link for FSUIPC:

Thanks Michael,
I believe I have successfully downloaded and installed FSUIPC4.966c. Unfortunately I am still getting the same error message regarding 4.583 when I start FSX and also in ACARS. I wondered if that is because FSUIPC4.583 was still lodged in my computer somewhere. I tried to find it, with an intention of getting rid of it but I couldn't find it. I did find the location of 4.966.
Question: Does the latest downloaded version automatically override and/or uninstall any older FSUIPC version?

You have to copy and paste 4.966c to the MODULES folder within your FSX root folder......if you don't have that folder needs to be created.

H O L D E V E R Y T H I N G !! I feel a hooray coming on. Sometimes I amaze myself (not often).
This is what I think has happened. I downloaded FSUIPC but failed to do the next step i.e. Installing it - which I did (I didn't really know what was happening).
FSX was started - no warning message. ACARS was started - no warning message. So I'm good to go.
Thanks for your help - you guys constantly amaze me with your excellent advice. HOORAY !!
