The Flight Academy would like to welcome our new instructor, Senior Capt Matt Lynn. Matt began flying at the age of 16 (1983) in a Cessna 152 and shortly after found his first Sub Logic Flight Simulator and has been hooked on both ever since. He earned his Private, Inst, Commercial and Multi-engine at a local airport and later his ATP. The airport was on a hill. You could not see one end of the runway from the other. It was only 2900 feet long and 24 feet wide. He started flying on charters in 1987 when customers requested a second pilot or the plane needed one, such as Part 91 and 135 on Cessna 414, 421B, King Air A100 and a back-up copilot on a IAI 1124 Westwind.
In October, 1989, he was hired as a SIC (second-in-command) on a Dash 8 and flew for Henson/Piedmont/USAirways Express flying under the 121 regulations. In October of 2000, he was hired by a fractional jet company located in Cleveland Ohio, flying as an SIC (second-in-command) on the Hs125 (Hawker 800) and then one year later, moved to the left seat of the BeechJet 400A/XP/Hawker 400XP for the next eight years. During his career he flew as copilot and Captain, he has logged over 13400 hours and is type rated in the HS125, DHC-8, MU300 and BE400.
Due to medical issues, Matt had to end his twenty year professional flying career in 2009, but continues his flying today with Delta Virtual Airlines.
