Does anyone know how often the PFPX database gets updated?

What database are you talking about? For the Navdata use Navigraph which updates every month. For weather use whatever weather engine you use in the sim. For the routes, you can download the DVA schedule from the pilot center.

To echo Remy's statement and, perhaps, provide further clarification: PFPX's databases don't receive any sort of automatic updates that I'm aware of. Sure, the software itself might receive an update (though I haven't noticed much active production since I purchased it a year or two ago and the support system is fairly lousy, in my most humble opinion), but the databases are up to you. PFPX is more like a calculator than a data source: it does a fantastic job of crunching the data you provide to give you helpful information, but you have to provide the data. It ships with a very old Navdata database, just so there's something in the system and the product is actually usable when you purchase it; however, if you want updated data, you must provide it yourself (via other products).
If you're looking for new Navdata, I also recommend a subscription with Navigraph. If you're looking for schedules, you can import the DVA schedule as Remy noted -- be advised, this may cause significant slowdown in PFPX, as the schedule is fairly large and requires PFPX to crunch a lot more data. As for aircraft, I'm not aware of any regular publication of aircraft data for PFPX, but it's a fairly simple process to add an aircraft and gather its specs from the (aircraft) developer's documentation. If you're interested in live weather, ActiveSky (my choice) and REX seem to be the front-runners.
Hope this helps.

Ah. I was completely off base, then.
I'm not aware of any sim products that produce regular updates for routings, though that isn't to say there isn't one: I just haven't looked.
I typically get my routes from FlightAware (or any other online flight database you may prefer) -- I'll look up what the real flights are doing and use one of their routes. I suppose this is lazy, but it works for me -- especially when there's weather on the usual routes, it's interesting (for me, at least) to see what dispatchers are filing.
If you're interested, (for the US, at least) the FAA publishes preferred routes through its National Flight Data Center (NFDC). You can either search for specific routes or download the entire (CSV) database. It may take some tweaking to import it into PFPX, if that's what you desire, but that might give you a head start. You can find the webpage here: https://www.fly.faa.gov/rmt/nfdc_preferred_routes_database.jsp

I just deleted the route database in PFPX since it does not update with every AIRAC cycle like routes do. I would just use PFPX for what it is for: calculate routes. Or go to Flightaware and find the route when you wanna fly it.

I actually contacted FSPX about adding the MJ Q400 route link, they said it would be in the next update... now I'm not sure when that will be but sounds like they are working on an update of sorts

Thank you all for your help. I guess I'll just pull the DeltaVA route database from PFPX and call it a day.
