google now charges for usage of their maps over a certain amount so Luke had to enable this on the web site.

Apparently they charge if you spend more than the $200 free usage or something like that.

Its actually some great marketing. Give away something for free and then when it becomes commonplace, put a limit on it where people have to pay beyond the limit. Most people will be do dependent on it they'll just go ahead and pay the pennies or few dollars more when they exceed the limit. Multiply that times millions of people using it and you just added profit for something you did no additional work on.
