Hello all. I don't often post in the Water Cooler but I am having an issue that I would classify as putting me near my wits end with my rig. I can't seem to find a fitting solution through many different Google and forum searches. I will give a little background on my issue and give system specs as well.
I recently purchased the QualityWings 757 and got it installed. When I opened FSX and got to the Free Flight main menu, I went to select the QW757, it would let me click "OK", and then my mouse freezes, with FSX and Windows 7 freezing also; my only recourse is to hard restart my PC with the power button. I restarted, checked Event Viewer for any errors (none), deleted my fsx.cfg file, let it rebuild, and tried again. Same hard lock-up issue occurs. It will also occur if I load up a default plane into a flight, then try to Change Aircraft to the QW757. Unfortunately I also within the last couple of weeks encountered this same issue with the PMDG 777. Similar troubleshooting methods, including complete uninstall of T7 (wipe registry and AppData\Roaming files too), but to no avail.
Running boxed FSX SP2. I have considered upgrading to FSX:SE for the time being while I mull over building a P3Dv4 rig in the next couple of years.
System specs:
Phenom II X6 1090T (OC to 3.44Ghz)
ASUS M3N-HT board
GTX670 2GB
CoolerMaster 650W PSU
Windows 7
8GB DDR2-800
It's a rather antiquated system at this point, but outside of the described issue, it runs FSX great and I have no complaints. Should I pull the trigger on the complete uninstall of FSX and try Steam version? Any advice or ideas are greatly appreciated.
