Hello everyone,
Happy flying and thank you in advance for the help!
I recently am getting back into flight simulation, but am stuck with reading multiple articles and looking at different computers to determine what PC will be best to utilize FSX. I am planning on using FSX Steam Edition. I came across a website called XForcePC, where there are computers built for the purpose of flight simulation. Here is a link:
https://xforcepc.com/english/flight-simulation/flight-simulation-computers.html
I am looking at a budget of $1100, yet with great performance. Does anyone have a PC they highly recommend or opinions on the computers built on XForcePC?
Can't wait to jump over this hurdle. Once again, an immense thank you in advance for the help. I am excited to get started again with the flight simulation world.
Thanks!
- LP

Welcome back Liridon!
If you are thinking of FSX, first I'd recommend the steam edition. Second, you'll want min 8GB RAM and as much Gigahertz cpu as you can get. I have i3 4.2 Ghz and it runs great. If you had i5 or i7 it would likely run the same since its a 32-bit program.
If you are looking to spend that kind of budget though, I would recommend you build a rig for Xplane 11 or Prepar3d v4. For that, you'll definitely want i5 or i7, min 3GB of video ram 1060ti video card, and 16GB of RAM. With that budget you should be able to run either of these two sims of the future really smoothly! I'm sure more here can weigh in with some better advice. I am sticking with FSX SE and my system runs it smoothly.

Hey Andrew,
Thank you for getting back to me and the help! I am hoping to stay with FSX (since that is what I learned the best haha) and I will go with Steam Edition since you recommended. So I should look for i3, 5, or 7, but has 4.2Ghz? For RAM and video card, would it be a good idea to go with what you mentioned?
Thank you sir!

I believe that FSX doesn't use more than 1GB of video ram but I could be mistaken.
When I chose to upgrade and spend some money. i looked up on pcpartpicker and tried to find a decent motherboard and then sorted cpu's by the highest Ghz available. At the time, there was an i7 at 4.2 Ghz and an I3 at 4.2 Ghz for less than half that price. i3 has only 2 physical cores so, being that FSX SE is 32 bit, more cores doesn't matter. So, I went with the i3. Got a good deal on it. My cpu was i3 7350K and second fastest on the chart. Today there are 4.7 Ghz cpu's out there (one year later).
https://pcpartpicker.com/products/cpu/#sort=-clock&page=1
I also read the FSX computer bible here for a lot of tips and recommendations:
https://www.simforums.com/forums/the-fsx-computer-system-the-bible-by-nickn_topic46211.html
I ended up gathering a lot but ultimately making my own decisions on the cpu.

Hi Liridon;
Listen, I don`t want to push you or anything... But I can build a good machine with that budget. I always build my own PCs and I can have yours build it too. Also, if you need any assistance to buy parts, please let me know. I love to build PCs. Don`t buy it PCs that is already prepared. Like Andrew stated, I use pcpartpicker and I do a good shopping around for a great prices.

Andrew,
Thank you for those two links. I feel that the biggest take away is the CPU.
--------------
Thiago,
I completely understand, and I saw PCPartPicker, and am definitely not well-versed with piecing together a PC. Would need help with that route and if you don't mind, we can discuss more about it. I did come across one PC Desktop with the following specifications:
Intel 8th Generation Core i5 8600K
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
120GB Solid State Drive + 2TB Hard Drive
8GB Ram
Thank you in advance.
Again, to everyone, thank you so much!

I understand... Some people they are just not comfortable with other building their PC. But one thing for sure.... Always go for SSDs and no more Hard Drive. I always be on the lookout for promotions. Just go to slickdeals.net and look at 1TB SSD for USD169. It is getting very cheaper every time.

Ditto Thiago on the SSD. Amazing the difference it made with me. I have 500GB SSD now after upgrading somewhat recently from 250GB. Happy to have the extra space. I have 500GB normal hard drive as backup.

To be honest, yes haha. I am boiling down to these decisions. Looking for your guys' opinion on them. I realize it is over my budget, but I am hoping to make it work.

Liridon;
I would wait a little. The new GTX (RTX for new editions) are coming soon, and the prices for older ones are dropping dramatically. The will going to announce on August 20th. https://www.pcgamesn.com/nvidia-rtx-2080-release-date-specifications
I`m also shopping for my work place, for at least a GTX 780Ti to replace my old SLI x 2 GTX660Ti.

Thiago,
Oh I didn't even know. Thank you for letting me know. Hoping you find one for a great price!
I will wait then a week or two before I make a decision.
In the meantime, I am leaning towards this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078H7WQ8B/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

Liridon;
Look at this one: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1430438-REG/evga__gtx_1080_ti_ftw3.html
So so cheap for $1000.00 and that is a GTX1080Ti
Just remember that you need other parts: CPU, Memory, windows, mouse and keyboard.
