Colleagues and fellow aviation enthusiasts,
After a four year hiatus (necessitated by work and very much involuntary) I have returned to my beloved FSX and my equally beloved DVA. While I would have been able to resolve these issues independently of consulting the collective wisdom of these forums years ago, I'm afraid my technical skills have languished over the years. As such, I've no idea what to do when encountered with the error displayed above which is automatically generated by ACARS upon start-up. I apologize in advance if this question is redundant or otherwise lends itself to an intuitive resolution but I cannot think that this is normal program behavior. At any rate, I am glad to be back in this wonderful community and I thank you in advance for your time and attention to this matter. Cheers,
Jeff

Welcome back Jeffrey, I am not good at programming but have you try to uninstall the ACARS program, reboot, and make sure you have all the latest windows update and install again? Other than that maybe it is something simple once one of the programmers take a look at it.
Again, welcome back and hope to see you up in the VS soon.

Jeffery,
Which version of ACARS are you using? You may need to update ACARS. Welcome back by the way!

Jay, thank you for taking the time to read and reply to my message. I also appreciate the kind words of welcome. I should have perhaps been more explicit by stating that I cannot even get ACARS to work presumably due to this error message. I will do as you recommend and hopefully that will remedy the problem. When I have time I will report my findings back here. Thanks again for the input and assistance my friend. Cheers,
Jeff

Joe,
Thank you very much for your reply. The version I had was 3.2 (which I just uninstalled). I was under the impression that this was the latest rendition of the ACARS program. Anyways, thank you for your input as well as the kind words. Cheers,
Jeff

Jay, I have uninstalled and reinstalled ACARS, pursuant to your advice but unfortunately this doesn't appear to have resolved the issue. If you think Windows updates are an essential prerequisite to the proper functioning of ACARS then I will enable that feature of Windows, though I'm usually very wary of Windows updates as they are notorious for interposing themselves on some of the other games I play. I guess I can always revert back to system restore in the worst case scenario. Thanks again for your insight sir. Cheers,
Jeff

Yes sir, and it seems as though our colleague Jay was correct when he stated above that Windows update might be the underlying cause. I ran all the updates that had been backlogged and viola - ACARS appears to be functioning. However, now I don't know what password I had been using to access the system. Is there a way to reset the password? Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Cheers bru.

It's the same password you use to access the web site. You can change it by editing your profile.

Jay - it was the Windows update, though having installed something on the order of 180 updates, I'm reasonably certain that some of my other Steam programs will now be rendered dysfunctional (mostly because I mod them) Anyways, it seems I'm cleared for take off on behalf the mighty DVA once again thanks to your very salient advice. Thank you sir!

Awesome Jeffrey, I am glad it worked out for you, I do understand the skepticism of installing updates but I think is a lost battle, now I tried to keep my windows up to date as much as I can. See you there.

Glad you got it figured out. Windows updates can be tricky. I got mine working and I’m on Windows 10

Haha a lost battle indeed. We must all surrender to the invincible and irresistible power of Microsoft, or be left with retrograde programs and incompatible system interface. Thankfully my copy of Skyrim still works post-Windows update. Thanks again my good sir.

Now that is an amazing feat if I've ever heard of one! Having reconciled the FSX and ACARS tandem option with Windows 10. I'm still availing myself of the user friendly and intuitive features of Windows 7, which is hard enough to finesse into accepting FSX and I've heard rumor of how notoriously difficult Windows 10 can be, especially with older programs. Hat's off to you comrade and thanks again for your invaluable assistance.
