The pre-ALPHA preview of the pending Microsoft "FLIGHT" has been released today. There will be quite a few you tube and print publications coming out describing the sim presentation by Microsoft at Renton earlier this month.
Flight Chops has a 16 min vid which is pretty high level but entertaining. https://youtu.be/HrJs0jK4a1g One striking thing was that the MS reps are all French or German until about 12 minutes when we finally hear from an American. It made sense once I realized that the developer is based in France.
Frooglesim has a longer and more in depth vid here: https://youtu.be/Fj8h6yibHHc (33 min)
Many questions remain: What will be needed for processor, graphics card and connectivity? They mention "big airplanes" but what will they be? Implications for the freeware and payware community? Cost: nothing yet? Native shared cockpit? Implications for DVA and the ACARS platform? (I will guess that the payware scenery developers will probably have to come up with something else.)
Froogle mentions that MS is already talking to 3rd party developers. Hello PMDG, A2A, etc! Uncharacteristically, he also says that he was "blown away" the presentation: he expected to be disappointed. Ha! He also enthusiastically offers that "Flight is truly the next generation flight simulator".
Enjoy.

Jim,
Thank you for this information. I’m personally not 100 percent sold on FS2020 yet. I just got P3D and all the addons again and then some. Hehe. I’m following development and I also just signed up on the insider program for them.

Thanks Jim. It's MS FS2020. "Flight" was an unsuccessful MS flight simulator released a while back but cancelled not long after release. The videos and the comments are interesting. It makes me wonder where Flight Sim World would be if not for all the negative publicity from folks like Froogle. Glad Microsoft says they leaned from the "Flight" failure and are developing FS2020 for us without a nickle and dime model. At least this is what they're saying now. Let's see.

I can see the hardware requirements being up there. With the new flight model and physics involved, there are tons of new calculations brought on with just that. There is supposed to be support for multi core processors, so will be interesting to see how they manage demand per core? I see there were AI ground vehicles on some highways, but traffic looked fairly light. Wondering how well or if AI air traffic will be modeled from the start? And how many airports will need to be made AI friendly?

So, here it goes away on everything you ever had purchased. ORBX and many others. Just want to know, if FS2020 will produce some serious addon for Airliners and no just VFR rating pilots of prop. Well, we have to wait to see it.

Well, I have my concerns, the developer is X-Box to start with, we had a bad experience with MS Flight before, images are stunning for sure but the fact that it's created from a satellite images makes me wonder how it will work, are we going to see tilted buildings or features on the ground? At one of the VFR images, I can count the reeds one by one if I want to, that's shouldn't be realistic and makes me wonder about specifications/price of the computer required for such performance.......Or perhaps there is a new technology that is very different from what started at FSX and still implemented at P3D, which reminds me that Froogle said that. 2020 is based on FSX! ....... I signed up as an insider and I guess we are going to wait and see......The idea is amazing but I don't want to get too excited about it yet.
