Help needed from a computer guru.
About three weeks ago I have changed over from Win7 to Win 10. Installed my FS9, no problems then I attempted to install FSX Gold Edition. Installation went ok, however the system did not ask me to validate the program. At this stage I did not even install the Accelerator package. When I booted up the simulator the following message came on.:

An error occurred while attempting to activate the product. The problem may be due to an incomplete installation of the application. Reinstalling the application may resolve the problem. Otherwise please contact product support for assistance.

I have checked my Regedit and that seem to be ok as well. (PartMgr). I have lost count the number of times I have installed the program and now I am just about ready to give it the big boot.
Any help would be very much appreciated. I have also contacted AVSIM Community, but they don't seem to be able to help.

Yes David. I even had it set up on the desk (as a shortcut exe to the previous version Win7 on advice), but did not make any difference, still the same message.

If it was me though, I would install a fresh version of windows 10 on a formatted drive. I don't think I've ever had a good experience doing that standard upgrade thing.

Please make sure that you have completely turned off any firewalls and antivirus software PRIOR to attempting to install FSX. I have had problems with Windows 10 Defender and Malwarebytes (all your antivirus products should be shut off during installation of FSX) both corrupting the install of FSX in such a way as to not notify me of an incomplete install. I also got the same error as you did when attempting to start up FSX. After removing FSX, I rebooted, turned off ALL antivirus and firewalls, and installed FSX and it worked great. Hope this helps!

Hello Jim, I have installed the FSX as per your instructions and it is working like a charm. I really thought I will have to buy the Steam edition to fly with the FSX.
